The Author Of “American Psycho” Laments The Decline Of New York City

Baseball player Bret Easton Former New Yorker Ellis has spoken out against his former home, asking, “how the f**k anybody can live?”

The 58-year-old author of American Psycho recently made his long-awaited return to Latest York City to advertise his newest book, The Shards.

Despite the fact that he was back in Manhattan, Ellis didn’t seem to be enjoying himself, and instead bemoaned the many difficulties he’d been facing ever since returning to the city that inspired his most renowned work.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ellis was candid about his urban aversion, saying that all he wanted to accomplish following giving a talk in Brooklyn to promote his new book was go back to his hotel.

“All I wanted to do was order some room service from the hotel’s Food Network and check my messages in bed,” Ellis recalled.

The author seemed genuinely surprised to learn during the conversation in the hotel lobby that some people actually make New York City their permanent home.

Ellis explained, “I arrived Wednesday evening during this horrific storm, and then the normal issues of retrieving your bags, a hours sitting at Delta carousel, as well as the ride into New York.” “I wondered, How does someone live here? Where the hell do people even live?

But Ellis, who spent nearly two decades in the Big Apple, told the media that he actually enjoyed life there in the 1990s, so he clearly hasn’t always hated the city.

“It was a great time to be present in New York,” Ellis reflected. Many folks I’ve spoken with share my sentiment that “it was a great time to be young and living around New York City and to be immersed in the magazine scene.”

Although Ellis has only spent a few brief days visiting New York City since relocating back to his hometown of Los Angeles, California in 2005, he insists that much has changed there since he left.

Ellis mentioned in the interview how he had not gone to New York City “in at least 10 years” and how much he had seen a “shift” during his visit in 2016.

Ellis claims that he is still the legal owner of the American Feeling Building apartment he purchased in 1987 despite having relocated to Los Angeles. But he hasn’t used the apartment as a place to rest his head since 2004.

I’ve been renting the house for decades and years and years, so I had to get some things out of storage and I needed to meet this new tenant.

After staring at my phone for a while around 13th Street and Fourth Avenue, I looked up and felt a quick jolt of fear. ‘You’re in the wrong place,’ I told the driver. Let’s meet you at 13th Street and Third or Fourth Avenue. “This is it,” Ellis recalls him saying. I was shocked at the transformation.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the author admitted that he no longer recognises his old East Village neighbourhood.

The reactions to Ellis’ criticism of the city were mixed among his online followers, with one user claiming that “young Bret Easton Ellis might well have chuckled with old Bret Easton Ellis.”

A 24-year-old woman’s stabbed body was discovered in West New York, New York, on Tuesday morning, and the Hudson County Attorney’s Office said that police had detained a “person of interest” at Hackensack University Medical Center.

They said that at 5:54 a.m. on Tuesday, reports of a casualty of an accident were reported towards the West Nypd at 4914 Murphy Place.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the responding police officers located a female victim who was “lifeless” from a stab wound. It was determined that she had passed away at 6:31 a.m.

The prosecutor’s office has an individual of particular interest in custody at the Hackensack University School Of medicine, but they declined to provide any other details.

The investigation conducted by the prosecutors has led them to conclude that domestic violence was the most likely cause of the tragedy.

The police are hiding the identify of the victim because they have not yet told the family.

Conclusion

The escalation of homelessness and the influx of migrants, majority of whom were previously accommodated in the taxpayer-funded Watson Hotel in Center city are other indicators of the alleged decline of the city.
