On National Sickie Day, the first and most important thing to do is, of course, call in sick to work. Get that email ready in advance, even the night before, to say that you won’t be able to make it to work on the day in question since it’s difficult for you to do so.
This is one of the finest times of the year to call in sick, whether you want to make up a lame excuse like having the plague or make it sound a little more genuine like having the sniffles.
Binge Watch Some Favorite Films
It’s possible that calling in sick means nothing more than vegging out, taking it easy on the couch, and watching many episodes of your favorite shows or movies in one sitting.
National Sickie Day is the ideal occasion for enjoying some movies that are the perfect cure when skipping out on work (or school) and having some fun, so grab those DVDs or start up Netflix since now is the best time to do it.

- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986). This timeless film, starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, and Jennifer Grey, tells the story of Ferris, a senior in high school, who tries to convince his best buddy, Cameron, to fake being sick and leave school on a lovely spring day during their final year of high school. There will be shenanigans, mischief, and a good deal of laughter!
- The Bride of the Princess (1987). When a young kid is sick and can’t go to school, his grandfather stays with him and reads him a story about a boy who needs to stay home from school because he’s sick.
- The narrative is about a lad who has to fight for the girl he loves. The primary characters are played by Cary Elwes and Robin Wright, with André the Giant, Wallace Shawn, and Billy Crystal providing assistance.
- Those Tenenbaums, the Royals (2001). This film stars an all-star comedy cast, including Ben Stiller and Bill Murray, and tells the story of a man named Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) who tells the biggest lie about being sick possible to his ex-wife in order to prevent her from remarrying.
- He claims that he has cancer in an effort to prevent her from finding happiness with another man.
- The extraterrestrial being known as E.T. (1982). In this science fiction movie directed by Steven Spielberg, we learn the fascinating tale of a little boy who concocts a terrible excuse to get out of going to school so that he can spend more time with his extraterrestrial companion. There are almost certainly occasions when calling in ill was the better choice.
