On Saturday, while Janae Edmondson and her family were making their way back to their hotel in downtown St.
Louis, they were pinned beneath the vehicles they had hit after a speeding driver, later identified as 21-year-old Daniel Riley, careened down St.
Charles street without using the brakes. She was taken to the hospital immediately, but doctors ultimately decided to amputate both of her legs.
The I-Team found out in the days after the incident that Riley was out on bond for an armed robbery he committed in 2020. The I-Team also discovered that he had broken the conditions of his bond at least 50 times, but the office of the circuit attorney did not file a motion to have his bond revoked.

“A young man’s reprehensible actions had a devastating impact on the lives of a small girl. This unfathomable tragedy will have an indelible effect on the victim and her loved ones for the rest of their lives, and we send our deepest condolences to them.
It’s terrible that some people have chosen to distort the truth in order to benefit from this crisis for themselves. No one should be throwing fingers at this family right now; instead, everyone should rally around them and see that justice is done.

Both were severely injured; one was amputated. Ms. Edmonson’s father’s prompt response and emergency medical training allowed her to survive the disaster, but she lost both of her legs as a result.

He’s a deadly sniper who ought to be locked up. After Riley allegedly stole a gun from an unarmed man in St.
Louis in 2020, he was charged with First Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.
Riley, who was out on bond, racked up 54 separate violations for failing to comply with the pre-trial release requirements before the case was dropped and refiled by the Circuit Attorney on July 18, 2022.
The Circuit Attorney re-filed the case, and Riley received 50 additional violations as a result. The bond for Riley was never moved to be revoked by the Circuit Attorney.

“The Missouri Attorney General and the Missouri Senate President Pro Tem have called for the resignation of Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner. Speculation and manipulation have no place in the operations of either office and have been thrust upon both.
I have given both departments information that should help them better understand what happened during the judgment of Mr. Daniel Riley and how some members of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were manipulated.”
