Homeless Man Asks Restaurant If They Have Leftover To Spare. He Was Offered A Chair And Anything On Menu

Giving out leftover food to those who are less fortunate at the end of the business day is a charitable behaviour that is frequently encouraged in the hospitality industry. The vast majority of people do not adhere to this practise, which results in a significant amount of food being thrown away.

On the other hand, one restaurant has received praise for the manner they dealt with a homeless guy who asked for whatever extra food they had. While Ronda Chung was at El Sur Street Food Co. in Little Rock, she noticed something that made her feel very warm and fuzzy inside.

On Facebook, they said the following: “El Sur Street Food Co. is the embodiment of compassion and local love.” This individual entered and inquired as to whether or not they had any food that they would be willing to give him.

On the other hand, the individual working the cash register approached the customer and said, “I would love to pay for your food.” He then inquired whether or not the customer would be interested in hearing any suggestions. They went on to say,

“Right off the bat, instead of trying to give him inexpensive food like chips and salsa or a pupusa, he offered him the enormous Con Todo baleada.” He inquired as to whether the individual desired to consume the meal at a table or whether they desired to have it packaged to go.

The man was conscious and stated that he did not want to cause anyone inconvenience, and the gentleman “behind the counter” stated that he was not upset by the man’s presence and offered him a table.

This beautiful story demonstrates that there are still decent and nice people in this world who will go to extraordinary lengths to assist others who are in need of assistance. The post that Chung made on Facebook quickly gained over 2.1 thousand likes and was reshared over the entirety of the internet.

Grayhome posted it on Reddit, where individuals responded by praising the restaurant for its thoughtfulness and sharing their appreciation for the post. One member on Reddit by the name of 1OutKastWill made the following comment: “Human being, just being human. We need to work on making instances like these more frequent.

I really hope that members of the community stop by this establishment and provide their patronage to this company. We can’t have enough people who are like this in this world.

Mammoth-Cook3625, a different user, stated that they “could never refuse someone who arrived to my kitchen hungry.” More people with your mindset are needed in this world.”

“On a daily basis at my profession, I am made aware of truly heinous things that individuals in the community do to one another. When I see posts like this, my trust in my fellow humans is restored. Thank you very much for sharing,” yet another user, x KatieTheFae x, commented on the post.

Some even related their own personal experiences of being on the receiving end of such generosity. One commenter named BusinessDuck132 mentioned, “I really enjoy doing this at Starbucks. We had a customer

who (I don’t want to make assumptions, but I got enough information without prying or asking him personal questions) I’m pretty sure was a homeless veteran, and my manager and I made it a point to let him know that he was more than welcome to hang around in our cafe.

Another user with the username PilgrimPayne59 left the following comment: “Thank you for sharing this with us. Because of all that is going on in the world around us in this day and age, a tale like this is exactly the kind of thing that everyone needs to hear.

That employee of the restaurant deserves kudos for going out of his way to ensure that the customer felt like a human being.

Everyone is distinct, with their own story to tell and set of experiences that make them special.

However, keep in mind that we’re all just flesh and blood. Some of us enjoy volunteering with homeless people, while others try to avoid it.

While at Chick-fil-A with his daughter, Joey Mustain, a father, was reminded of this. They were having dinner when a homeless man wandered in, asking for any leftovers.

Joey noticed the man’s matted hair and the mud caked into his “well-traveled” shoes. While waiting for the manager, he respectfully addressed the other customers, who “reluctantly spoke back,” as Joey put it.

Joey Mustain, the family’s father, immediately shared the entire ordeal on Facebook:

After we finished dining and she worked up an appetite for dessert playing with the other kids, we took her back to the store to exchange her toy for ice cream. Rather than eating it in the vehicle, as is our custom, she insisted on sitting down at a table, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

We sat at a table close to the area where customers wait for their drinks to be “refreshed,” giving us a perfect view of the homeless man who had just strolled in and inquired if they had any spare food.

His shoes, which had seen a lot of use, were caked with wet mud. His beard and matted hair were not so much a fashion statement as they were a practical requirement and an indication that he doesn’t get to shave as frequently as the rest of us.

Even if everyone around him kept their distance, he continued to be kind. He chatted with recalcitrant chattees and grinned as he waited for a supervisor.

Final Words

In the hospitality industry, it is common practise to donate leftovers to those less fortunate at the end of the workday. Many people don’t do this, which leads to wasted food.

On the other hand, a single eatery has been lauded for how they handled a homeless man who requested for any leftovers. During her visit to El Sur Street Food Co. in Little Rock, Ronda Chung saw something that made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
