Over the course of two seasons, Apple TV+’s adaptation of Mick Herron’s best-selling ‘Slough House’ book series, Slow Horses, has successfully destroyed our faith in the nation’s security services by demonstrating just how much those services rely on luck – and the occasional, freak moments of competence – in the face of institutional decay, bureaucracy, corruption, and indifference.
We have endured farts on an epic scale, dealt with startling amounts of over-false confidence, and been forced to watch Gary Oldman talk with his mouth full more times than anyone should have to. We have suffered through all of these things and more. And I couldn’t be happier about it.
As a result of this, we are overjoyed to announce that not only will there be a third season of Slow Horses, for which production has already begun, but that there will also be a fourth season of the show. We have been sentenced to two more years of spies’ hell in Slough House, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Slow Horses Season 3 Potential Release Date
It is difficult to pinpoint a precise release date for the third season of Slow Horses at this time. This was due to the fact that both seasons 1 and 2 were filmed simultaneously, which resulted in them being released so close together, both in 2022. The subsequent shooting of seasons 3 and 4 took place simultaneously, but this does indicate that there will likely be a longer gap between the airing of seasons 2 and 3.
However, given that the seasons were announced during the summer of 2022 and that production began shortly thereafter, we have high hopes that new episodes will begin appearing on Apple TV+ by the end of 2023. Slow Horses Season 3 Cast
If it weren’t for Jackson Lamb, who serves as the resident tormentor-in-chief at Slough House, that facility wouldn’t be nearly as effective as it is. It has been confirmed by Gary Oldman himself that he will be appearing on the show, as he stated on a podcast hosted by Kermode and Mayo that he will continue to do so for as long as the producers want him to do so.
Alas, not everyone survived seasons one and two. Therefore, neither Dustin Demri-Burns’ Min Harper nor Olivia Cooke’s Sid Baker will make an appearance (at least not yet; readers are aware that her story is not yet finished).

Jack Lowden, who plays River Cartwright; Rosalind Eleazar, who plays Louisa Guy; Christopher Chung, who plays Roddy Ho; Kristin Scott-Thomas, who plays Diana Taverner; Saskia Reeves, who plays Catherine Standish; Jonathan Pryce (David Cartwright)
Both newcomers Aimée-Ffion Edwards (Shirley Dander) and Kadiff Kirwan (Marcus Longridge) made it through their initial deployment unscathed, which means that they will be back for their second tours of duty. James “Spider” Webb, played by Freddie Fox, was killed off at the end of the second season of the show; however, should Fox’s character return, his acting duties will be simplified because Webb continues to be in a coma throughout book three.
It was announced on January 11 by Variety that Sope Dirisu, who currently stars in Gangs of London, will be joining the cast for season three. Dirisu will play the role of Sean Donovan, who once served as the head of security at the British embassy in Istanbul.
There is a love connection between Sean and a character that we are already familiar with in the novel; however, it is unknown whether or not this connection will be adapted for the big screen.

What Will Slow Horses Season 3 Be About?
Real Tigers, the third book in Mick Herron’s book series, will serve as the inspiration for the upcoming third season of Slow Horses. The following is what is written in the book’s summary: “Catherine Standish is well aware that spooks are never involved in coincidental meetings. Because she spent a sufficient amount of time working in the Intelligence Service, she is familiar with treachery, double dealing, and backstabbing.
“She has no idea why someone would target her, as she is only a recovering alcoholic who works as a paper pusher with other lost causes in Jackson Lamb’s kingdom of exiles at Slough House.
“Whoever is taking her captive cannot have a personal grudge against her. It must have something to do with Slough House. There is a high probability that it pertains to Jackson Lamb. And you can say whatever you want about Lamb, but he’ll never abandon a regular joe in a bind. Perhaps he is even the kind of person in whom you might place your complete trust…”
