Nearly 150 New York City Police Officers Violated Department rules During 2020 George Floyd Protests: Report

According to a new report released on Monday by the Civilian Complaint Review Board, over 150 New York City police officers broke department standards during protests in 2020 over the death of George Floyd.

In total, 146 officers had misconduct charges upheld by the Board. Most of the offenses involved the inappropriate use of force, such as batons or pepper spray. Discourteous or obscene language was another common infraction.

According to the study, the CCRB was unable to look into hundreds more claims because police officers hid their badge numbers with bands or refused to be interviewed remotely.
