Storyline Of Season 2 Of Criminal Minds: Evolution
Not yet, anyhow; Elias Voit is still involved. Erica Messer, the showrunner, announced in February that Voit would be a (strange) asset to the squad in the upcoming second season.
“In the upcoming season, we hope to have Voit return almost in the role of Hannibal Lecter. Yet, we need to seek out Gold Star’s assistance only when problems arise “This is what Messer told EW during an interview.
The showrunner also hinted at future romantic tension, specifically a love triangle between main characters Penelope (Kristin Vangsness), Alvez (Adam Rodríguez), & Tyler (Tyler James Williams) (Ryan-James Hatanaka).
Because now Alvez is included in the loop, “there could be a little bit greater of a triangle that we’ve ever really explored on the show,” Messer recently told Variety. “We didn’t want to take away what seems to be a genuine and extraordinary connection between Garcia and Tyler,” the authors write.
And things aren’t going to go swimmingly for Rebecca (Nicola Pacent) & Tara (Aisha Tyler).
Messer added to EW, “We would want everything but for that to come out, but somehow it won’t be simple.”
And whereas the first season of Evolution centred on a single unsub, the second season of Evolution will feature a wider variety of unsubs. When teasing the show to TV Line, Messer said, “Of the very first four episodes thus far, 2 are a small bit serial, and also the two are not.”

Release Date For The Second Season Of Criminal Minds: Evolution
When asked in February if Season 2 production would “hopefully” begin this spring, Messer said that it will.
According to TV Line, there will be ten episodes in this season. There has been no announcement of a release date as of yet.

Characters From Season 2 Of Criminal Minds: Evolution
Season 1’s primary cast members include Joey Mantegna, A.J. Cook, and Paget Brewster, among others, are likely to return for Season 2.
While the majority of BAU agents returned for the relaunch, a few notable original cast members were not present for the first season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. Two regular cast members who were obviously absent from the upcoming episodes were Dr. Spencer Reid (Matt Gray Gubler) & Special Agent Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney).
Supposedly owing to schedule issues, the performers were unable to film the first episode, but the show claimed that they were “out there on assignment” instead. As Messer told TV Line in September 2022, “Dr. Reid’s and I suppose Matt Simons’ desks remain intact and still have everything on it.”
Implying that Spencer & Matt “are not gone gone,” we can expect for a possible return if schedules align. The showrunner told EW in February not to get too excited, saying, “I wish there were some guarantee that I was able make to everyone, but this is not my commitment to keep.”
