Vinland Saga Season 2 Will Soon Be Available On Netflix. Everything You Need To Know

Vinland Saga Season 2 is almost here! To coincide with the January 2023 premiere of the second season of the anime adaptation of Thorfinn, which was announced and accompanied by a teaser trailer last summer, production studio Twin Engine has revealed a new image from the upcoming episode.

The first season of Vinland Saga, based on the manga’s “prologue” arc, tells the tale of a young Viking warrior named Thorfinn who joins a gang of mercenaries to avenge the death of his father at the hands of the mercenaries’ commander, Askeladd.

When we left Thorfinn, he was grappling with the reality of a future beyond his quest for vengeance and the weight of a decision made in a fit of rage that might have terrible implications.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Release Date

As of this writing, Vinland Saga has had one season of anime, which began airing on July 7, 2019, and concluded on December 29, 2019, for a total of 24 episodes. A total of 54 chapters from the manga were adapted here, bringing the show up to the middle of volume 8.

With 25 volumes of the manga out in the world, there is more than enough content for a second season to be revealed, as many viewers expected it to be. However, the reality was somewhat different.

When compared to more recent works, Vinland Saga was never as popular as, say, Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen. Producers were cautious to disclose any intentions for future seasons of the show because of the small but dedicated fandom.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Release Date

Even so, the modest Vinland Saga fanbase was relieved to hear the show was renewed for a second season on July 7, 2021, about two years after the conclusion of the first. Nothing, not even a release date (or window), has been announced by the creators of the film.

After it has been almost a year since the formal announcement, we have no idea when season two of Vinland Saga will premiere, but we may assume it will be sometime this year.

As a result of these factors, we may assume that the launch of Vinland Saga Season 2 will occur in late 2022 or early 2023 at the earliest.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Trailer

You’ve undoubtedly guessed by now that there isn’t a decent trailer for the new season of Vinland Saga because we’ve given you all the information you need about the show.

We’ll have to wait for a release window for the second season to have a more definite window for the trailer’s release, as the season was only recently announced and has only recently began production.

A trailer is premature at this point in production, but rest assured that Vinland Saga will return very soon. The show’s renewal for a second season did not come as a shock, as it is obviously very well-liked.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have any official information on the new season’s release date as of right now, so we’ll have to wait a little while for the trailer to surface. Here’s the official teaser we have so far, though:

Vinland Saga Season 2 Plot

As we’ve established, we don’t know a whole much about the upcoming Vinland Saga season two beyond the fact that it will indeed be a season two. We’ve already mentioned that the first season wrapped up at Chapter 54 of the manga and that there are currently more than 15 volumes to adapt.

Since it is unknown at this time how many episodes will be included in Season 2, we will instead provide a high-level synopsis of the story.

Six-year-old Thorfinn and his family have settled into a modest Icelandic town in the year 1002. Tough but carefree describes life with his father Thors, mother Helga, and older sister Ylfa.

His father, known as the “Troll of Joms,” pretended to die in a battle off the coast of Norway before deserting the Jomsvikings and fleeing to Iceland with his wife.

King Sigvaldi’s daughter is his mother. Only the derided Leif Eriksson, who discovered the mythical Vinlands, has any exciting tales to relate. But things shift when a warship docks. Blackmailing Thorfinn’s father into helping her in the Battle of Britain is envoy Floki, sent by King Sigvaldi of Jomsburg.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Plot

This reluctantly accepts and clears a ship for Jomsburg; he is a former war hero who has long since abandoned killing.

He departs with a band of passionate local youths and Leif. Thorfinn has stowed away somewhere undetected on the ship. In the meantime, Floki instructs Askeladd, the captain of a mercenary squad, to eliminate Thor in the Faroe Islands.

Thorkell then begins to chase the prince and his loyal companion Ragnar. Thus, Askeladd and his army are able to capture the prince. After using Canute as a political pawn for a while, Askeladd eventually sacrifices himself so that Canute can assume the crown.

Thorfinn, cheated out of his chance at vengeance, fights the prince before being defeated and sold as a slave to a farmer. There Thorfinn mulls over what his life will consist of in the future, while Canute schemes to become king of England.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Cast

From what we can see, the core cast of Vinland Saga won’t be shifting around too much. Some new characters will be introduced, but the core group will remain the same (mostly) right up to the very end. This leads us to believe that the core voice actors will return not only for Season 2, but also for any additional seasons that may be produced.

Although we don’t have official word just yet, we’re going to assume that the majority of the names in our table will be appearing in future episodes of Vinland Saga:
