Hours after his arrest on Thursday night, the man accused of killing a deli worker on the Upper East Side was escorted out of the 19th precinct. He had been wearing a HAZMAT suit throughout a series of robberies.

The 39-year-old Kimond L. Cyrus did not respond to the reporters’ inquiries as he was brought away in the rear of a police car with his hands and feet restrained.

Police say that on Friday night, Cyrus shot and killed a 67-year-old worker at Daona Gourmet Deli on Third Avenue and East 81st Street.

On Thursday, Sueng Choi, a resident of Queens, was recognised by police as the worker.

With the gun’s discharge, Cyrus allegedly pistol whipped Choi, killing him.

On Thursday, he was arrested and accused with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

During the course of a week, he robbed three city delis and bodegas at gunpoint.

On Sunday, a concerned resident called the police to report seeing him at a bodega in the Bronx. Close to Crotona Park, before he rode off on a scooter.

Authorities had a hard time figuring out who was responsible for the robberies. Because the perpetrator was wearing a mask and a white Tyvek suit.

Police said they apprehended Kimond Cyrus, 39, on Thursday in the Bronx. After he robbed four New York City bodega stores at gunpoint. While wearing a white Tyvek painter’s suit and a black face mask. Cyrus allegedly shot and killed an employee at one of the Upper East Side stores.

On Thursday, Mayor Eric Adams warned that the widespread acceptance of mask use in the wake of the pandemic was making the jobs of competent police officers more difficult and facilitating the escape of criminals.
