The showrunner revealed what’s next for the series.

In the most recent season of The Chi, Jake had a violent encounter with some police officers. Neighborhood watch programs have been implemented by Trig, but the system is not yet foolproof.

Showrunner Justin Hillian said he hoped to continue that plot line in an interview following the Season 4 finale of The Chi

The showrunner revealed what's next for the series.

Television Line quotes him as saying, “We definitely want to show what possibilities there are in terms of the neighborhood and of people looking after one another.” When it comes to dealing with the police, Lena shows no sign of being interested. To that end, it would be ideal if they were removed altogether, leaving it to the community to take care of its own problems, as the show has always been centered on that community. As a result, we believe that keeping things as they are “makes everything fertile and interesting.”
