National Vision Board Day – January 14, 2023: Goal-Setting And Inspiration For The Future!

The second Saturday in January is National Vision Board Day, and this year it falls on January 14 to remind us to create a visual representation of our aspirations. Today is dedicated to reimagining and realising our dreams in all facets of life.

The idea is similar to the old adage, “seeing is believing,” in that if we can visualise our desired outcome, we are more likely to take action to get it. This event was sparked by a get-together of like-minded individuals in 2010 who wanted to spend a day having fun and thinking big.

Explaining The Significance Of This Particular Day In History

In 2010, the first “Vision Board party” emerged as a popular fad among numerous groups of friends. To facilitate sharing of aspirations, objectives, and strategies for achieving them, friends got together in lighthearted settings.

Putting one’s aspirations “out there” increases the likelihood that one will encounter opportunities that bring them closer to fulfilment. This theory is largely based on the law of attraction.

Vision boards, which resemble collages built from gathered artefacts or photos, represent the hopes, dreams, and desires of the one producing them, and are commonly made as part of these celebrations.

To make “out there” goals more concrete, a vision board can be used by persons who have them but find them difficult to visualise. National Vision Board Day was created by Kellan Lutz and Ryan Daly in 2015 to inspire people to make a plan for the upcoming year and increase the likelihood that they will achieve their goals.

All aspects of one’s life (relationships, businesses, arts, travel, and careers) can benefit from this method of goal planning, which involves gradually refining one’s focus. Vision boards, also known as dream boards, are a fun and creative way to visualise the future.

Choice aids in the reduction of desires, and the visuals and images in magazines achieve just that.

We chose a Saturday in January, right at the start of the new year, to celebrate National Vision Board Day so that people might reflect on the coming year and be inspired to create a visual representation of their aspirations for the year.

Put some of these strategies for National Vision Board Day to use and become more proactive in your pursuit of those objectives:

Making a Vision Board

In recognition of National Vision Board Day, making a board that serves as a source of motivation and inspiration for the future year is a great way to spend the day.

Magazine clippings, drawings, sketches, printed online images, and other visual aids can all be used for this purpose. Those with a more artistic bent might make their vision board into a creative outlet by using markers, coloured pencils, or paint.

Once the vision board is complete, it should be displayed in a prominent location at home or at the workplace to serve as a constant, daily reminder of the intended outcomes.

Throw A Party With Vision Boards

If you want to get on the right track for the next twelve months, National Vision Board Day is the perfect day to get together with a group of like-minded pals and create a shared vision board. Besides poster paper, magazines, glue, tape, twine, scissors, and munchies, you’ll need a few other things for this activity.

While everyone is hard at work on their boards, put on some motivating and inspiring tunes. The next step, once the boards are complete, is for everyone to share their aspirations and dreams with the group, who should respond with positive reinforcement.

Encourage and hold each other accountable as you work to keep this group linked throughout the year and get each member closer to realising their goals.

Something that brings you closer to your objectives. Below are a few ideas:

  • To-do lists, shopping lists, lists of needs, lists of advantages and disadvantages, and lists of goals are all examples of lists.
  • A source of inspiration could be anything that stirs positive emotions or propels you on toward your objective.
  • These graphical representations of your goals and the time frames in which you hope to achieve them may be both inspiring and intimidating. Have them be difficult, but not impossible.
  • Highlight the words that matter the most to you by writing them in large, bold font. They can remind you of what’s important to keep in mind or what’s driving you forward toward your objective.
