Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama (born January 17, 1964) is a former first lady of the United States of America and an attorney and author. The first woman of African descent to hold this office, she broke new ground. She is Mrs. Barack Obama, wife of the 44th President.
Obama, a Chicago native, attended Columbia University, Princeton University, and Harvard Law School. She met Barack Obama during her time as an associate at the Sidley Austin law firm.
Later in her career, she served in non-profits, as the vice president for Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and as the associate dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago. Michelle and Barack got married in 1992, and now they have two daughters.

To Frasier Robinson III and Marian Shields gave birth to Michelle Robinson Obama on January 17, 1964 in DeYoung, Illinois. She and her older brother, Craig, moved to the South Shore neighbourhood of Chicago when they were young. They both attended Chicago Public Schools, where she quickly advanced to gifted classes.
Mrs. Obama attended Whitney Young High School, the first magnet high school in Chicago, and graduated at the top of her class in 1981. She followed in her brother’s footsteps by attending Princeton University in New Jersey and earning a cum laude degree in 1985.
She graduated with a BA in Sociology and African-American Studies, and the topic of her senior thesis was “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.”
Mrs. Obama graduated from Harvard Law School in 1988. After finishing law school, she found work at the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin, where she focused on entertainment law and was eventually assigned to advise Barack Obama as a summer associate.
Mrs. Obama left Sidley & Austin in 1993 and went on to work for the city of Chicago’s Department of Planning and then the national service organisation Public Allies.
