In a statement that he published on social media on Thursday, former President Donald Trump referred to the discussion between Griner and Bout as “dumb” and a “unpatriotic shame for the USA.”

Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the leader of the Republican caucus in the House, chimed in on the matter on Thursday as well, calling the release of Bout a “gift to Vladimir Putin” that “endangers American lives.”
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey), who is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, criticised Vice President Joe Biden’s decision to trade Bout for Sen. Jennifer Griner.
Menendez wrote in a statement that “We cannot ignore that releasing Bout back into the world is a deeply disturbing decision.” Menendez is critical of the fact that Biden traded Bout for Griner.

On Tuesday, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene hinted that there is little interest in reopening the investigation into the alleged rigged 2020 presidential election that supporters of former President Donald Trump have been making without evidence.
The Georgia Republican said on Steve Bannon’s War Room that she “would do it again right now” if she had the chance to contest the results of the 2020 election.
‘Right now if I could,’ Greene emphasised. It’s the correct thing to do, but I’m being honest because I don’t want people to have false hope or false expectations.
This week, Greene has been under fire for saying the January 6 Capitol riot “would’ve been armed” if she had organised it. Greene denied charges that she was involved in plotting the riot during her Saturday night keynote address at the 110th Annual Gala of the New York Young Republican Club, but she did say that “we would have won” if she and Bannon had plotted it.
“Exactly; that’s the punchline. They say it was all part of a master plan, and I can’t believe it. They think we planned for a group of conservative, Second Amendment supporters to enter the Capitol building unarmed.” In her defence, she did add something.
To prevent President Joe Biden’s election victory from being certified, a crowd of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building on January 6. According to Newsweek’s fact check, allegations that no one in the mob on January 6 had firearms are untrue.
Greene defended herself on Twitter after the White House criticised her comments on Monday.
