Disgraceful George Santos is a charlatan who constantly lies. To name a few, he’s dishonest about his racial origin, upbringing, and professional history. George Santos probably augmented anything that could be supplemented.
His dishonesty is funny in retrospect, but it’s unfortunate that it had to happen. Santos ought to face repercussions for his dishonesty. But if we’re going to act outragedly now and start punishing politicians for lying about their past, we might start with President Joe Biden.
The lies provided by Biden do not justify what Santos did. There is no room here for “whataboutism” or any other justification that rests on holding all politicians to the same standard. The reality remains, however, that many Democrats, including Joe Biden, have their own shady pasts in terms of what they told voters about their own backgrounds.
Some of the same politicians, commentators, and media personalities who are now up in arms about Santos showed less indignation when these Democrats were revealed. Since it wasn’t simply Biden who lied, this is more worrisome.
If We’re Punishing Politicians For Lying About Their Past, Start With Joe Biden
George Santos is a scumbag that constantly lies and cheats. He has lied, among other things, about his past, his parents, and his experience. He has also lied about his ethnicity. George Santos most likely embellished whatever that could be embellished,
if that was even possible. If the consequences of his lying weren’t so awful, it would be funny. Because of his lies, Santos needs to be punished for his behaviour, and for good reason.
On the other hand, if we are now going to be truly offended and start punishing politicians for lying about their past, we might start with President Joe Biden as the person to punish.
The lies told by Biden in no way justify the actions taken by Santos. This is not an instance of “whataboutism” or some other effort at reasoning that is founded on uniformly using the same standards for all politicians.
However, this does not change the fact that many Democrats, including Joe Biden, have their own shady histories about what they told people about their pasts. This is a fact that cannot be changed. And when these Democrats were revealed, other politicians, pundits, and talking heads in the media —
basically the same people who are in a huff over Santos — did not have the same anger as they do now, despite the fact that they are currently in a huff about Santos. It is especially troubling to learn that Biden was not the only one who lied about this.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is one of the most prominent Democrats whose lies about her past have been uncovered (D-MA).
Warren falsely claimed Native American ancestry in 1986 when she registered with the Texas State Bar as a “American Indian,” as was proven in 2018. It is thought that Warren did this to increase her credibility as a member of a minority group and therefore advance her career.
Warren initially denied any wrongdoing and reaffirmed her indigenous heritage, going so far as to record the results of a DNA test to prove the veracity of her claims.
The opposite was true. The fallout of this was an apology from Warren. What is the penalty for her dishonesty? Nothing. As soon as she apologised, everything was forgotten.
After the uproar around her ethnicity subsided, Warren announced her candidature for president about a year later. Even though she came in second, the fact that she competed at all shows how she is held to a different standard than Santos.
But hypocrisy in expressing anger has a long history.
Think about what Biden has said about his past. There is a plethora of options, making it difficult to narrow down your selection.
In a recent speech given in Florida, he lied about the circumstances behind Beau’s untimely demise. According to him, Beau was killed in Iraq.
“Inflation is discussed…inflation is a worldwide problem right now due to a conflict in Iraq and the impact on oil and what Russia is doing…. Sorry, I have to bring up the conflict in Ukraine “that is what the head of state had to say. My kid was killed in Iraq, so that country is on my mind.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. In 2015, Biden’s son died at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, from brain cancer. No one knows why Biden made this statement.
The time when Biden said the drunk motorist who hit his first wife was also drunk is also noteworthy. This, too, was not correct.
In 1972, Biden’s first wife was killed when their car collided with a tractor-trailer. He lost his young daughter in the accident as well.
Biden has said numerous times over the years that the intoxicated driver was to blame for the accident. But there was none proof for this assertion. Furthermore, the state officer who conducted the investigation into the crash said that intoxication was not a factor.
On the 1987 campaign trail, Biden also “Santos-d” his law school GPA. Biden has also lied about his background and education, the amount of his undergraduate degrees, his upbringing in a Puerto Rican community, and his involvement in the business world with his son Hunter, among many other examples. One could make the case that Joe Biden was the original George Santos.
This does not make Santos’s dishonesty any less reprehensible or provide an excuse for it. The left’s fury over Santos, however, is about as believable as Santos’s “Jew-ish” ancestry. They have every reason to be critical of Santos. They sin repeatedly by ignoring Biden’s problems with telling the truth.
