It’s hard to believe that Dr. Seuss is no longer with us, given the enormous influence he has had on the lives of children across generations, and especially so close to his birthday on March 2nd. When and how did Dr. Seuss actually pass away, though? The legendary author did, in fact, enjoy a long and fruitful life.

How Dr. Seuss Died?
On September 24, 1991, at the age of 87, Geisel passed away at his home in the La Jolla neighbourhood of San Diego from cancer.
The Pacific Ocean is where his cremains was cast. Four years after his death, on December 1, 1995, the University Library Building at the University of California, San Diego was renamed Geisel Library. It was in honour of Geisel and Audrey for their philanthropy to the library and commitment to promoting literacy.
A well-known nuclear physicist, Dr. Hans Suess, also called La Jolla home during the time that Geisel was there. It led to frequent confusion between the two men by the USPS and others. Also, there are statues of Geisel and many of his characters in the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden. It opened in 2002 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
In 2017, the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden was joined by the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum in the Springfield Museums Quadrangle.
The California Hall of Fame inducted Dr. Seuss in 2008. Also, to celebrate Geisel’s birthday on March 2nd, 2009, the popular search engine Google made a momentary change to its logo (a practise that it often performs for various holidays and events).
