Hamilton was the first Secretary of the Treasury under President Washington, and he was a trusted member of Washington’s cabinet. He envisioned a strong national defence commanded by an active president, and an industrial economy.

He successfully contended that a tariff on imports and a whisky tax gave birth to the First Bank of the United States. Which in turn gave birth to the legal authority to fund the national debt. Assume the debts of the states, and create the national bank.

A duel was finally proposed by Burr to Hamilton. After suffering a fatal wound on July 11, 1804, Hamilton passed away the next afternoon. He was 47 years old.

On the morning of July 11, 1804, after Alexander Hamilton had taken care of his own business. He and Burr met on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River. During the ensuing gunfight, Hamilton was fatally injured. Several people think he intentionally missed Burr so that Burr could shoot at him. The next day, Hamilton was taken back to New York City, where he passed away.
