The unidentified individual was apprehended by police on Sunday evening following a manhunt that lasted several hours and involved the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Explosives.

Chief James White of the Detroit Police Department said tips helped them locate the perpetrator, but he gave no more details about the case.

“Appreciation goes out to the brave men and women of the DPD who daily put their lives on the line for us. Also, a huge “thank you” to our law enforcement partners,” the agency wrote late Sunday night on its Facebook page.

Police Arrest Suspected Gunman

According to White, the police believe there is only one shooter since they have linked all four shootings to the same gun. He claimed that authorities don’t think the shooting victims were related because one of them was walking a dog and the other was waiting for a bus.

Around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, he said, officers found the body of a woman in her forties who had been shot many times. A 28-year-old guy was shot numerous times in the area as police were investigating the fatal shooting, White said.

At roughly 6:50 a.m., a third body, a lady in her forties, was discovered nearby. The cops say she was shot numerous times before she died.

A senior citizen spotted a stranger looking into cars at around 7:10 in the morning, he said. According to authorities, the elderly man was wounded once but managed to survive after the gunman opened fire after he instructed the person to move away from the cars.
