The accused is said to have dismembered her body into 35 parts and stored them in a refrigerator. Over the course of the next 18 days, he began secretly dumping the bodies’ remains at various areas across Delhi after dark.
According to sources within the Delhi Police, Aftab Amin Poonawalla, the suspect in the heinous Shraddha murder case, had been inspired to do the crime after watching numerous crime films and online series, including the show “Dexter.”
Investigators in Delhi have detained a man they believe murdered his 28-year-old live-in partner and then scattered her body parts across the city over the course of the previous six months.
Police stated on Monday that they had arrested a 28-year-old Mumbai resident named Aftab Amin Poonawalla on Saturday after receiving a complaint from the deceased man’s father and had placed him on five-day jail.
A woman named Shraddha Walker, 27, from Mumbai is reported to have met the suspect while both were employed at a contact center in the city.
In Mumbai, the two met through a matchmaking service. After three years of living together, they decided to make the move to Delhi. Ankit Chauhan, Additional DCP-I South Delhi, informed ANI that Shraddha had begun pressuring the man to marry her shortly after the couple moved to Delhi.
“Their arguments used to boil over all the time. According to Chouhan, “the male had a fit of rage on May 18 and strangled the woman.
According to the accused, he dismembered her and hid her body parts in the dense vegetation of Chhatarpur Enclave. The inquiry into his arrest is ongoing,” Chouhan said.
The guy is said to have dismembered her into 35 parts and stored them in a refrigerator he purchased. For the next 18 days, sources said, he disposed of the body parts at night in various areas throughout Delhi.
Also, according to these same sources, every night after killing Shraddha, Aftab would sleep in the same room where he had sliced up her body. After storing it in the refrigerator, he would occasionally examine the face. After getting rid of the remains, Aftab cleaned out the refrigerator.
It has been reported that prior to Shraddha, Aftab had relationships with other females. He had also been a big fan of the American crime thriller series Dexter, among other such fare, before to the commission of the murder.
In September, a friend of the victim told her family that she hadn’t heard from or seen Shradhha in over two and a half months, and that her cell phone had been disconnected. Her loved ones saw no activity on her social media sites either.
His father, Vikash Madan Walker, a resident of Palghar (Maharashtra), reported him missing in November to the Mumbai police.
The victim’s last known location was established to be in Delhi during the preliminary investigation, prompting the transfer of jurisdiction to the Delhi police.
The victim’s dad told authorities he knew about his daughter’s relationship with Aftab and that he thought Aftab was involved in his daughter’s disappearance.
Aaftab and Shraddha were discovered to have moved to Delhi and been staying in a leased apartment in the Chhatter Pur Pahadi neighborhood. During the course of the inquiry, the police were able to track down Aftab and ultimately apprehend him.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime and blamed Shraddha’s persistent marital pressure for sparking their frequent arguments.
Officials announced that the suspect had been apprehended and that a complaint had been filed at the Mehrauli police station under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence committed).
Some bones were also found in the accused’s leased apartment, and authorities have stated that they are actively working to locate the remaining remains.
“Was Aggressive”: Doctor Who Treated Aftab
Aftab Amin Poonawala, who is accused of murdering his live-in partner, slicing up her body, and discarding the pieces in a wooded location, reportedly visited a doctor in New Delhi to have a wound treated in May, the same month the woman was killed.
After Dr. Anil Kumar questioned Poonawala how he was harmed, Poonawala said it happened while he was chopping fruit. Poonawala was highly combative and agitated when he first came to see Dr. Anil Kumar.
“He showed up early one morning in May. One of the guests has come in hurt, per my assistant. Upon examination, I determined that his wound was only superficial and not life-threatening.
“There was no damage to the framework underneath. He told me he cut himself while chopping fruit when I questioned how he got hurt. It was a clean, little incision, so I had no reason to disbelieve it “Dr. Kumar remarked.
He saw Poonawala, then 28 years old, for the first time during treatment and described him as a very brave and self-assured individual.
“The cops took him to my hospital two days ago and inquired as to whether or not I had treated him. I had seen him before, so the answer was an obvious yes.
“When he arrived for treatment, he was quite combative and fidgety. As he said, he locked eyes with me. The man was brazen and self-assured. He introduced himself to me in English and informed me that he was from Mumbai but had relocated to Delhi because of the city’s thriving IT industry “Dr. Kumar remarked.

Several women slept with him in that house over the course of the last few months. The women who frequented Aftab’s home did not know about Shraddha’s murder, sources from the police force said.
Bought New Refrigerator
Aftab bought a fridge. The refrigerator was in a corner. Aftab kept his lover’s body parts in the refrigerator. The refrigerator also contained Shraddha’s head. His friends avoided the fridge. Aftab’s friends and girlfriends visited his home.
Inside the house, they could smell incense. Strong scent is everywhere. No one suspected Aftab hid the body in the house. After the murder, Aftab bought a 300-liter fridge. Shraddha’s bodily parts were wrapped and refrigerated. At 2 am, Aftab opened the fridge. He picked up each lover’s body part. He scattered the fragments daily in a nearby woodland.
Murdered In May
Shraddha was killed in May, according to Delhi police. Aftab killed his live-in spouse a month after arriving to Delhi from Mumbai.
