On Sunday, a prayer vigil was held for the individual who had been the victim of a violent assault.

One week after he was viciously attacked in what is considered to be a road rage incident, Steve Strode’s church community and family gathered outside the hospital where he is still fighting for his life. Strode served as a deacon at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church for the past 25 years.

“We want to encourage individuals who are looking into this matter to pick up the pace of their inquiries. Raise your game, “according to the Reverend Walter Matthews, who serves as pastor of the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church.

Family members and close friends are gathered outside the University of Chicago Medical Center, praying for a miracle and demanding justice.

“I only ask that everyone continue to pray for my husband and that anyone who has any information regarding the person or people who did this to him please come forward. Don’t be frightened to come in and tell us who abandoned him bleeding in the street; we won’t hold it against you “said Strode’s wife, Monique Strode.

According to Steve’s wife, he was travelling home from work on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the Saturday morning before he was injured. They suspect he was hit from behind.

According to Strode’s family, the persons who had hit his car got out and attacked him after he turned off onto a nearby street to get some distance.

The man was unable to talk when the Chicago police discovered him behind his car in the 100 block of East Marquette Road. He had been severely battered.

“He is engaged in a struggle for his life. He is being kept alive by a machine “Monique claimed. “It made no logical sense. It came out of the blue. And it appeared as though he may have been the subject of an attempt to carjack him or something else, I’m not sure what it was.”

His friends and neighbours are currently praying for his speedy recovery and for the authorities to identify those responsible for what happened.

“Bring yourself to the police! Carry out the appropriate action. Since you are responsible for everything at this point, “explained Strode’s sister, Linda Veniace.

According to the police, it is now unknown what sparked the attack. No arrests have been made.
