A Man Was Shot By Masked Assailants In A New York City Housing Complex

The masked shooter who killed a 26-year-old outside a Bronx bodega was captured on surveillance footage and identified on Thursday.

At the Francena Mini Store on Sterling Location near Bison Ave. in Washington Heights at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Monday, the shooter, who was wearing a black hoody and a ski mask, fired shots at Dion Reid, according to the police.

The NYPD revealed the surveillance tape Thursday, and it clearly shows him holding a firearm. Police need the general public’s assistance in identifying and locating this suspect. Reid had an artery in his hip and ankle pierced after being shot. He hurried into the shop in search of aid.

He was sent to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life, but it was too late. “There was a man cringing back there,” the anonymous witness added. “I was about to leave. That’s when I decided to leave town. The assailant sped off.

The suspect is a skinny 20-year-old, standing at roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was decked out in a black coat, blue sweatpants, and black trainers in addition to a ski mask and hoodie.

On Wednesday, police said that the suspect in the shooting of a 17-year-old kid near his Top West Side junior high had been charged with homicide. The shooting sparked a wave of gun violence, possibly in vengeance.

Shortly after gunfire broke out on Tuesday morning near the intersection of Holland Avenue and East 68th Street, police arrested 19-year-old Cheick Coulibaly.

After posting bail inside a 2021 attempted robbery case, Coulibaly reportedly shot the teenage victim many times inside the torso, according to the police. The adolescent required surgery but was anticipated to make a full recovery.

Authorities say that 4 or 5 teenage males got into a fight that led to the bloodshed two blocks to the north.

They said the victim stumbled to Maxine Greene Junior High for Imaginative Inquiry after being shot. After the shooting, both this school and the adjoining LaGuardia High Music school went into lockdown.

Meanwhile, Coulibaly escaped in a yellow taxi he had flagged down, but alert bystanders tipped off police, who’ve been able to prevent the vehicle a couple of blocks away and apprehend him.

A doorman at 165 West End Ave., who witnessed the arrest, claimed, “The cab was going downtown.” Five police cars pulled up.

They boxed in the cab from both sides. With their weapons drawn, the police approached the man and ordered him to leave. He escaped, and the police promptly detained him.

According to the police, Coulibaly was also arrested for assault, illegal use of a firearm, and illegal possession of a firearm in additional to attempted murder. On Wednesday, he was arraigned and ordered jailed without bail.

The Adventure Continues

Chief of Patrol John Clem told reporters on Wednesday that Coulibaly has three previous arrests. This includes two drug-related arrests in the Bronx this year and an indictment for assault and robbery with a handgun in Manhattan from 2021.

His bond in the continuing case was set at $50,000 in November, according to court records.

Police sources believe that the shooting of a 16-year-old kid and a 27-year-old man innocent person at East 129th Place – Madison Avenue may have been a retaliatory attack, which occurred now over three hours just after Upper West Side incident.

When the kid and four other classmates from Harlem Heritage High School were leaving school for lunch.

During the fight, shots were fired, wounding the adolescent in the leg. He was reportedly a first-day student. According to the police, the witness was also shot and taken to Harlem Hospital.

The three alleged shooters ran away, police added. According to the police, the teen was indeed the intended target of the gang-related shooting. Around 3 p.m., shots were reported being fired on East 105th Street near Park Avenue; police said they thought this incident was also related.

No one was hurt, but four shot casings were found at the scene. The perpetrators in such crimes remain at large. Chell told reporters in Brooklyn on Tuesday, “the last 5 hours, we got two shooting situations in the northern part of Manhattan.”

He also said, “For the time being, we’re treating them as though they’re all interconnected.” Why would I say that?”

It is highly likely that this was a gang-related crime because of its proximity to certain other clan crimes, its place near a school, the ages of the survivors, as well as the fact that for at least one complainant was a gang member.
