Bobbie Thomas hasn’t hosted the Today show in almost a year, and she’s “terrified” to go back on air on Thursday.

Finally, Thomas explains “Furthermore, I haven’t done it since he’s been here, so I’ll be starting from the beginning and going back on the show. As a result, I’ve come to the conclusion that “No, he’s still not here and I’m going forward.” It’s terrifying for that reason.”

Prior to Michael’s death, Bobbie had been open about his illness; she even wrote a letter for Today in May 2019 to raise awareness of strokes during National Stroke Awareness Month, just a few weeks after Michael suffered a stroke.

Michael had been hospitalized for six weeks after his stroke, but she said he was making progress in his rehabilitation.

Michael was able to spend his first Fourth of July with Bobbie and their baby Miles after being released from the hospital on that date in 2019.

Bobbie expressed her thanks to everyone who had shown their support by writing, “My heart is flooded with gratitude – I can’t thank every enough for all of the nice comments and wishes.”

While preparing to return, she gave an interview in which she said, “To be honest, there’s a tremendous fear and melancholy about returning on the program because, in a lot of ways, it’s like having to actually realize that life has really moved on.”

When Bobbie Returned, Her Fellow Today Hosts Greeted Her With cheers And Hugs.

It had been two years since she had last been in the New York City studios, so this visit was especially significant.

While chatting with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on her March 3 comeback broadcast, Bobbie mentioned Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman, whose husband passed away from a heart attack in 2005, as one of the “many amazing people” who had reached out to her over the last year.

Bobbie continued by saying that the responses she received from her fans were so encouraging that she was introducing a new portion of the show called “Dear Bobbie,” in which she would read audience submissions and provide advice based on their real-life experiences.
