When Mizkif Talked To Hasan On Twitch, He Decided To End His Saudi Arabian Sponsorship!

Mizkif, a prominent Twitch streamer, abruptly backed out of a sponsorship deal that would have flown the Just Chatting star to Saudi Arabia for a Fortnite charity event.

A Twitch streamer by the name of Pokelawls revealed an invitation to a sponsored Fortnite event in Saudi Arabia on June 29. The streamer mentioned that in the email, OTK co-founder Mizkif and OTK creator Emiru had intended to make an appearance.

In an effort to deflect attention away from its own and other countries’ humanitarian concerns, Saudi Arabia has frequently been accused of engaging in “esports washing.” Mizkif’s first decision to accept the sponsorship was widely panned by fans.

Within minutes of the disclosure, Mizkif went live on Twitch to pretend he hadn’t heard about the controversy.

Mizkif, only a few minutes into his broadcast, called Hasan, a popular political streamer, to get his take on the situation. Hasan informed Mizkif of Saudi Arabia’s role in the Yemeni Civil War and its other internal problems. Mizkif decided to cancel the sponsorship after having a lengthy discussion with the former Young Turks reporter.

I’m not doing it since I didn’t realize the consequences, Mizkif declared.

“Listen, when I first heard of Saudi Arabia, the first thing that popped into my head was, ‘guy, me and Tfue can taste dishes and drink beers together in Saudi Arabia.’ Exactly my thoughts!

Consequences Of The Saudi Arabia Streamer Incident

Once the truth was revealed, Mizkif and others had to deal with the fallout. Mizkif had an online conversation with Hasan, who explained to him why the audience had such a negative impression of Saudi Arabia.

Other streamers have come out to confirm that they, too, were approached about participating in the Saudi Arabia streamer Fortnite competition, like Moistcritical and Ludwig. Neither one of them agreed to go.

For example, Asmangold offered a balanced view on the trip by pointing out that one can visit a country without endorsing the policies of that country’s leadership.

A number of streamers have canceled at this time. Mizkif informed Hasan that he would not be leaving any longer, and it is likely that the other members of OTK will decide to stay put as well.
