Arcane Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot, Character (Updated July 2022)

With its compelling story, the animated series Arcane, which debuted in November 2021, quickly became a major hit for Netflix (and one hell of a cliffhanger ending).

Since then, it’s only natural for viewers (including us) to want to know everything there is to know about the show’s future, season two, and even beyond.

Thankfully, we now have some answers, and even though we realise it will take some time, we are confident it will be worthwhile.

Arcane, which is set in the League of Legends universe created by Riot Games, details the beginnings of characters from the utopian Piltover and the oppressive Zaun, notably the sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell).

Steinfeld joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Kate Bishop, a young aspirant superhero that Hawkeye takes under his wing, in the Marvel television series Hawkeye, which she has since starred in.

She also won praise for her performance in Dickinson, in which she took on the role of a young Emily Dickinson.

However, she was less well-known when Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the creators of Arcane, engaged her to voice Vi during the six-year production of the first season.

 Arcane Season 2 Release Date

Season Release Date

Arcane’s second season, which Netflix has confirmed, began filming in November 2021.

The first season of the series, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, took six years to produce, but he vowed in a tweet that the wait for a second season wouldn’t be as long:

However, it will be difficult to hasten a six-year procedure; as a result, please wait until at least 2023 before expecting it (at the earliest).

“We’re beyond delighted about the fantastic reception to Arcane’s first season,” the show’s co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee said in a statement. “And we’re working hard with the creative magicians at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second instalment.”

You may anticipate that season two will have the same delivery system whenever it airs. Season one featured a unique structure in which three episodes debuted simultaneously.

Arcane Season 2 Cast

Cast

Most of the key cast from the first season is likely to return for the sequel, including:

  • As Vi, Hailee Steinfeld
  • As Powder/Jinx, Ella Purnell
  • Young Powder is Mia Sinclair Jenness.
  • As Jayce Talis, Kevin Alejandro
  • As Caitlyn Kiramman, Katie Leung
  • Young Molly Harris Caitlyn
  • Harry Lloyd portrays Mel Medarda as Viktor Toks Olagundoye.
  • JB Blanc portrays Bolbok and Vander.
  • As Ekko, Reed Shannon
  • Young Ekko, played by Miles Brown

Jason Spisak’s presence is less certain because the first season end saw the death of his character Silco, though flashbacks are always a possibility.

In addition, a teaser from Arcane’s social media team has fans wondering if the second season would feature any new characters in addition to the well-known ones.

Arcane Season 2 Plot

Plot

Even while the second season’s official plot summary has not yet been released, given how the first season ended—with a major cliffhanger—we may make a few educated guesses about how the early episodes might pan out.

The Monster You Created, the eighth episode of Arcane, featured Kevin Alejandro’s Jayce calling for a Council vote to grant Zaun independence.

The vote was successful, but at that very moment Jinx (Ella Purnell), who was traumatized by killing Silco, launched a rocket at the Council building, striking it with great force.

That was how the season concluded, and given the high level of animosity between Piltover and Zaun during the nine episodes, it is quite likely that the attack on the Council building will spark additional violence and cause the vote for Zaun’s independence to be disrupted, potentially permanently.

Arcane Previous season recap

Previous Season Recap

Arcane is the story of two cities: Zaun, a sleazy undercity, and Piltover, a prosperous utopian city. Only connected by bridges and divided by the River Pilt, the two cities frequently clash as the wealthy Piltover residents, led by Councilor Mel Medarda, concentrate their efforts on innovation while the poor Zaunites fight to exist on a daily basis.

Enter Vi, the older sister, and Powder, the younger sister, whose parents were murdered by the Piltover Police during a riot and taken in by Vander, the kind-hearted, hulking boxer bartender. Vi is played by Hailee Steinfield, while Powder is played by Ella Purnell.

Young Powder inadvertently kills Vander and two of her pals during a disastrous operation to rescue Vander after she is taken by a Zaunite crime lord named Silco. The sisters are split up by this for years, and their destinies are divergent as a result.

Powder adopts the alias “Jinx” and joins Silco as a daughter figure as a result of her activities mentally disfiguring her. Vi makes an unexpected partnership with Caitlyn (Katie Leung), a Piltover police officer, and while all of this is happening.

Jayce (Kevin Alejandro), a young entrepreneur, is establishing a name for himself in politics and the risky field of fusing magic and technology.
