WoW Dragonflight

The Dragonflight expansion for World of Warcraft takes us from the Shadowlands to the fabled Isles of the Dragon. Playable dragons can be found in the form of both rideable and non-rideable dragons. A new era of enlightenment has unearthed an old mystery for both the Alliance and the Horde in the land of the dragons.

However, it does not appear like we will have to wait until next year for the release of Dragonflight. Plenty of information about the upcoming expansion is available, including new regions, races, and interface modifications as well as the Dragonflight alpha testing. What we do know about World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, in case you’re interested.

WoW: Dragonflight Release Date

The release date for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has not yet been announced, although it is expected to take place at the end of the year in 2022. The expansion, which will be available “on or before December 31, 2022,” may already be pre-purchased

This is more logical than our original plan, as most expansions have debuted in the second half of the year, between August and December. Because of the impending release of Season 4 of Shadowlands(opens in new tab) later this summer, we had anticipated that Dragonflight might not debut until early 2023. A new expansion is expected to need a shorter season in the Shadowlands.

WoW: Dragonflight’s New Zones And Story

The Dragon Isles, the ancestral home of dragons, will be a part of the upcoming Dragonflight expansion. New areas include Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, Azure Span, and Thaldraszus, a long-forgotten ruin.

When it comes to World of Warcraft’s mythology, the Dragon Isles have always been one of the most enigmatic areas. According to Blizzard’s announcement webcast, the Dragon Isles served as the original kingdom’s capital when the world was young. Dragonkind had to flee the Isles long ago after Azaroth’s continents were split up and magic was rendered inactive. Dragons’ elemental energy isn’t going to be dormant for much longer, as anyone may guess.

On the Isles, you’ll come across a variety of mortal races in addition to dragons. Dragons have long been at odds with the half-giant elemental Djaradin. Tuskarr, the walrus-like creatures, are also making a comeback. A long-dead civilization of Centaurs once lived on the Isles, as mentioned by Blizzard.

WoW Dragonflight Trailer

To get a sneak peek at the upcoming expansion, Blizzard released the World of Warcraft Dragonflight trailer on April 19. Players will soon be able to fly their drakes in the Dragon Isles thanks to a new flying feature introduced in the Dragonflight trailer.

A cinematic peek at the expansion’s more fantasy-leaning tone can be seen in the video, which does not feature any gameplay. With a deeper look at Warcraft’s renowned dragons and an exciting journey into their ancient homeland, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra says players have been eager to return to the high fantasy roots of World of Warcraft. “Players will discover just that in Dragonflight,” he adds.
