Will There Be A Season 2 Of That ’90s Show? Speculation And What We Know So Far

The first season of the new stoner sitcom That ’90s Show debuted on Netflix on January 19, introducing viewers to the teen offspring of the original ensemble for more coming-of-age jokes and love stories. The show was inspired by the massively successful That ’70s Show. The pilot episode began with the daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon),

Leia, moving into the famous basement of her grandparents, Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp), and beginning to form friendships with Gwen, Jay, Ozzie, Nikki, and Nate. Her parents are Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon).

This return to Point Place, Wisconsin had plenty of viewer appeal thanks to a fair dose of nostalgia for the 1970s and 1990s by way of the early 2000s, but for a programme to stand on its own two feet, it needs to demonstrate that the new characters and stories have durability.

Will There Be A Season 2 Of That ’90s Show?

Netflix has not yet revealed whether or not That ’90s Show will be renewed for a second season, and the streaming service’s recent pattern of cancelling shows that appear to have widespread viewership casts doubt on the show’s future. However, given that it only takes place in a single location, this sitcom’s production costs are much lower than those of many of the streaming platform’s ongoing programmes.

This is something that could work in its favour, as could the viewers’ fond memories of the show’s forerunner. There is also a wonderful example already out there of a follow-up to a hit sitcom that is prospering on Netflix. Fuller House, the sequel series to Full House, ultimately ran for a total of five seasons on Netflix.

Callie Haverda as Leia, Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen, Mace Coronel as Jay, Reyn Doi as Ozzie, Sam Morelos as Nikki, and Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate are the new cast members. If Netflix does decide to move forward with a second season, we can expect Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp to return as legacy characters Red and Kitty. In addition, we can expect the return of the original cast members

Will There Be A Season 2 Of That '90s Show?

After making cameo appearances in Season 1 as the parents of the new generation of characters, it is possible that the cast of That ’70s Show, which includes Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Wilmer Vanderrama, will make additional cameo appearances in future seasons. This is one possibility.

Haverda has already shared her thoughts on how she sees her character developing in a Season 2 that has not yet been confirmed, telling Decider the following: “People do indeed mature with time. Due to the fact that she developed so much over the course of the summer alone, I believe that during the course of the next year,

she will be yearning to return to Point Place, but she will also be kind of finding herself. I believe that the things that Gwen taught her will cause her to step beyond of her comfort zone, and that as a result, she will return to us as a more self-assured and confident individual. During her time away, she most likely participated in even more novel activities and made acquaintances with new individuals. When she gets back, I really can’t wait to find out what happens with her because I’m so curious.”

How Many Episodes Of That ’90s Show Are There?

That ’90s Show premiered with ten episodes during its first season. This is a significant reduction from its predecessor, which featured anywhere from 22 to 27 episodes in each season.

Fans who wanted a second season of That ’90s Show were equally vocal in their desire for an increase in the number of episodes included in each season. One user stated “#That90sShow made a good choice by choosing to end the season on a twisty cliffhanger. People are going to start tweeting Netflix about a second season now. Regarding this topic: Hey, Netflix! We’re going to need that second season early next year. And imma need 15-20 episodes. I am grateful.”

The fact that the original show is not currently available to stream on Netflix has been deemed by some users to be an absurd oversight, and these users have criticised Netflix for this.

Initially, each season could be seen on Netflix; beginning in 2020, however, that service will be replaced by Peacock. Peacock will not permit viewers in the UK to watch That ’70s Show, and this policy applies even to people who have a subscription to NOW TV.

The trial that took place in a court in Los Angeles in November 2022 resulted in a mistrial because the jurors were unable to come to a decision that was acceptable to all of them. A new trial is planned for the month of March in 2023.

According to EW (opens in new tab), despite Masterson’s status as a main character for the entirety of the run of That ’70s Show, he is not mentioned at all in season 1 of That ’90s Show, nor is his absence explained.

This is despite the fact that Masterson was a main character for the entirety of the run of That ’70s Show. Don Stark, who played Bob in the first version, made a comment in which he made a reference to the event and said “It appears that I was the very last person to make it back. With the exception of Danny, everyone had returned to the show after their absence, given the circumstances.”
