Why Didn’t Nikola Jokic Suit Up Against New York Knicks? All You Need To Know

Nikola Jokic, a great player for the Denver Nuggets, did not play in their game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. On Tuesday, the Joker reportedly started going through the NBA’s health and safety procedures, as reported by ESPN.

Jokic started the routines along with Bones Hyland, who is in his second year with the team. Both he and Hyland will be eligible to make a comeback whenever they are given the green light to do so by the NBA’s rules.

Although athletes are not required to submit to routine testing during the current season, there are certain conditions in which they are required to be screened for COVID-19. Players need to be examined, for example, if they exhibit any symptoms or if a member of their family has been found to have a positive test result for COVID-19.

There is no guarantee that the virus will be present in each and every patient who has the operation.

To tell you the truth, this is the easiest method for the NBA to avoid bothering the players while still ensuring that the league is protected from the virus. At least the safety procedures aren’t nearly as stringent as they were a few years ago when they were first implemented.

Denver Nuggets Fall To New York Knicks In Nikola Jokic’s Absence

Nikola Jokic did not play against the New York Knicks on Wednesday because he was injured. The Denver Nuggets were defeated by the Nuggets by a score of 106-103. The loss was caused by the absence of their top center. It was a competitive game for the entirety of the contest; but, because the Nuggets were without a crucial player from their starting lineup, they had a difficult time beating the Knicks.

Julius Randle was the shining light for New York City on this night. He scored 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double in the game.

The field goal percentage Randle shot for was 52.4%. The Knicks were able to keep the slim advantage they had throughout the game thanks to his efforts, which allowed them to win. In the first half, he was on fire, as evidenced by the fact that he was able to score 24 points in almost 16 minutes of game time.

Jalen Brunson contributed 21 points and had a field goal percentage of 53.8%. Brunson scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half, when he really started to get going offensively. Together with Randle, he shoulder the weight offensively to stifle the Nuggets’ offense.

Denver Nuggets Fall To New York Knicks In Nikola Jokic's Absence

Despite the fact that Nikola Jokic was not on Denver’s roster, they put up a respectable fight. The Nuggets were able to stay pace with the Knicks throughout the whole game and even managed to take the lead for a short period of time.

On that particular evening, the team’s top two scorers were Jamal Murray and Bones Hyland. Each participant finished with 21 points in their individual totals. Their partnership was unfortunately not strong enough to compete with Brunson and Randle.

If Nikola Jokic had been available to play for the Nuggets, it’s possible that they would have been able to pull off the upset and win the game. As of the 16th of November, the two-time Most Valuable Player has a scoring average of 20.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists, and 1.5 steals.

The Joker’s performance thus far in this year’s season appears to be around par when compared to his MVP season. If the Nuggets want to be successful, it is absolutely necessary for them to have their big man available at all times.

After calling their first timeout at the seven-minute mark, the Nuggets went on a 7-0 run in the following two minutes.

After then, both teams’ offensive sputtered for a while, but the Knicks eventually rallied to take the lead, 25-22. After tying the score, Denver let another five-point run to the Knicks’ bench, and they entered halftime behind 30-27.

It appeared in the fourth quarter that the Knicks were feeling the effects of playing two games in a row at high altitude. New York had multiple starters on the court, but Denver kept expanding their lead. About halfway through the final quarter, Denver’s offense slowed to a crawl. The Knicks were on a 7-2 run with 3:27 left that had cut the deficit to three points.
