When Is Silksong Coming Out? Potential Release Date, Gameplay And Story Of Hollow Knight: Silksong!

when is silksong coming out

It’s been a long time coming, but now we finally have Hollow Knight’s highly anticipated follow-up, Silksong, which was released in 2017. Considering that it has been nearly four years since the game was first announced. We also don’t use the term “long-awaited” flippantly.

It appears, however, that the Pale King has heard our cries, and the release date for Hollow Knight Silksong could be sooner than we expect.

Similar to its forerunner, Hollow Knight Silksong is a non-linear 2D platformer. Taking place in a bug-infested underworld, players are tasked with finding their way around and fighting off the many enemies they encounter.

Expect to find dark caverns and ancient citadels, battle their feuding inhabitants, and increase your skill set and arsenal. Hopefully, it will be a top PC game of 2023. While we wait, here is all we know about when Hollow Knight Silksong will be released. From the game’s release date to actual gameplay footage and trailers.

Long in the making, Hollow Knight: Silksong was meant to be a post-launch DLC for the original game’s 2014 release. You’ll take control of Hornet, a character who appeared in the first game. As development progressed on the Hollow Knight Expansion, the team considered include Hornet. But ultimately opted to create them their own game. In 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong was finally unveiled.

It appears that Silksong will be a very different experience than its forerunner. When compared to the Knight from Hollow Knight, Hornet is a far more nimble protagonist. Using Silk, they can fortify their skills and make useful tools like swords and traps.

The latest information about Hollow Knight: Silksong is detailed below. Along with our best guess as to when the game will be available for purchase and a brief peek at its gameplay.

Potential Release Date Of Hollow Knight: Silksong

While we don’t have a confirmed date just yet, we expect Hollow Knight: Silksong to be released within the next six months. It will be available on PC (through Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S.

When it was originally unveiled in February of 2019, Hollow Knight Silksong was already over two years removed from its predecessor’s release. It was supposed to be a piece of downloadable content for Hollow Knight. But it ended up being its own game entirely. The studio Team Cherry indicated a few months after the announcement that they wouldn’t set a release date until they were confident the game was as good as the first Hollow Knight.

In June of 2022, after an excruciatingly quiet three years, everything seemed to be ready. The developers guaranteed a release within 12 months. As part of the Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase, and Xbox repeated this pledge to fans on Twitter. That is to say, look for the Hollow Knight Silksong release date to be in the first half of 2023 at the earliest.

Gameplay Of Hollow Knight: Silksong

Two trailers for Silksong have been released, and both of them show off gameplay. The gameplay is also drastically different from the original, with Hornet being significantly faster than the Knight. This makes Silksong seem like a much more rapid game with a wider variety of navigation and mobility options.

The trailers for Silksong have shown off several new foes and monsters that players will face off against. Suggesting that boss fights will make a significant reappearance in the final game. The gameplay for boss battles appears to be the same, but for the fact that Hornet has more mobility throughout the arenas.

Story Of Hollow Knight: Silksong

Anybody who has played Hollow Knight will remember Hornet, the antagonist who eventually becomes the player’s ally. To begin this new adventure, Hollow Knight: Silksong swaps out its heroes, bringing in Hornet in place of Knight.

Hornet is abducted and taken to the land of Pharloom in this new game. Developer Team Cherry describes Silksong as being “haunted by Silk and Song.” And the game’s basic plot has Hornet starting at the very bottom of this new country and climbing to its peak. Where she must enter a gleaming fortress to learn the truth about her abduction.

There will also be optional quests for Hornet to do. The ability to keep track of all your side quests in a journal makes these sound a lot more substantial than they were in the original Hollow Knight. Possibly this could be a chance to expand Silksong’s narrative in other directions.

Trailer Of Hollow Knight: Silksong

The original Hollow Knight: Silksong trailer is the most convincing. It begins with Hornet at its centre and launches straight into action. The sight of Hornet charging towards his foes and smashing them to pieces is both reassuring and disturbing. It also includes what appears to be a grappling hook.

You can see ledges that rise further up into the kingdom. And routes that lead to other locations just outside the screen’s borders. There is an onslaught of fresh foes and superiors to vanquish. One boss encounter appears to take place in a sunny field of flowers, possibly alluding to the climactic showdowns in Sekiro and Bloodborne.

There are also many new NPCs to interact with, each of whom has their own unique vocal quirk that has been a hallmark of the Hollow Knight series. They’ll be dispersed around Pharloom. Both in existing settlements and in the brand-new ones you’ll find there for replenishment and respite.

Nintendo has released a 20-minute gameplay video of Hollow Knight: Silksong if you’re interested in seeing the game in action. It shows off some of Hornet’s new skills and covers the entire game from the prologue to the first boss.

Just the Nintendo Switch and PC have been confirmed thus far for the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Although this may change after the game’s release, it won’t be available on additional platforms at the time of its first release.

So far, that’s all we know about when Hollow Knight Silksong will be available. But we should know more soon.
