Even though the flagship The Walking Dead TV show is coming to an end, there is still a lot of (undead) life left in the franchise as a whole. Season 8 of Fear The Walking Dead is on the way, and it will feature a return of an unexpected character. Production has also begun on Tales from The Walking Dead.
What’s more, in 2023, a spinoff starring Daryl and Carol will premiere, and the long-awaited Rick Grimes movies will only add to the glut of zombie entertainment.
In addition to its success in television and comics, The Walking Dead has also spawned a number of video games over the years, the most notable of which are the story-driven games developed by Telltale Games (and ultimately completed by Kirkman’s Skybound company after Telltale Games ran into financial difficulties).
There will soon be yet another “game” of some kind. Skybound Games, Kirkman’s gaming division, has announced The Walking Dead: Last Mile, though it appears to be more than “just” a game. And Skybound will be working with a number of companies, including Facebook Gaming, to bring the project stumbling into existence.
The Walking Dead: Last Mile Release Date
Fans can watch the first moments of The Walking Dead: Last Mile begin live tonight at midnight UK time, as the developers have confirmed the game’s release date as Monday, July 11, 2022.
After that time, the game will be playable and discoverable on Facebook Watch and Facebook Gaming, two of Facebook’s many free features. Not only is there no charge, but there is also no download required.

What Is The Walking Dead: Last Mile?
In its official announcement, Facebook called The Walking Dead: Last Mile “a massively interactive live event (MILE) launching this summer as a Facebook Gaming and Facebook Watch exclusive.”
However, could you please elaborate on what this means? “Part game, part interactive television show, TWD:LM will immerse participants around the globe in the universe of The Walking Dead in new and unparalleled ways,” reads the official announcement from Skybound Games about The Walking Dead: Last Mile.
“the all-new TWD:LM story and protagonists in the hands of the players as the saga unfolds minute-by-minute, daily, and weekly,” according to the description of this interactive experience.

What Has Robert Kirkman Said About The Walking Dead: Last Mile?
Creator of The Walking Dead Robert Kirkman gushed about the ambitious project, saying, “We’re thrilled to unveil this new MILE experience that will take place in The Walking Dead universe, where fans can play games and influence this new world and its inhabitants through a community.”
Similar to “With The Walking Dead: Last Mile, viewers can stream a living, breathing world from the show, where they can make a difference in the story as they interact with it on a personal and communal level. Forging forward with innovative partners Genvid and Facebook, we can’t wait to see this vision become a reality.
All-new stories and characters are being developed by simulation studio Pipeworks Studios in collaboration with Genvid Entertainment, Facebook Gaming, and Skybound Entertainment. While they are the ones who will have to face the walkers (or whatever name this group decides to give them), the story ultimately belongs to the players.
