The Breaking Benjamin Tour – Including Upcoming Events, The Band’s History, And More!

A spring headline tour featuring Breaking Benjamin and Bush has been confirmed. Starting on April 26 at the House of Blues at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the tour will end on May 27 at the Boling Arena in Knoxville. Another Day Dawns will perform as a special guest.

He learned guitar by ear, with the help of Nirvana’s Nevermind.  Burnley supported himself as a solo artist, performing cover songs at local coffee shops, before forming Breaking Benjamin.

During this time, Ben threw over a microphone (like his hero and inspiration, Kurt Cobain), causing it to crack, and the band was given the moniker Nirvana. The owner of the broken microphone stepped over to the mic and thanked Benjamin for his contribution to the cause.

Get Breaking Benjamin Going

Benjamin Burnley were born on Atlantic City, New Jersey, and spent his formative years there before settling in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, where he currently resides. At the age of eighteen, he left high school and relocated to Wilkes-Barre, Pa, where he lived with Jonathan Price, the bass player for Breaking Benjamin.

Burnley and Aaron Fink, the band’s original lead guitarist, formed Breaking Benjamin with Nick Hoover and Chris Lightcap in 1998. Burnley eventually decided he needed a change, so he travelled to California to experiment with some other sounds.

Those remaining three individuals eventually formed the band now known as “Strangers With Candy.” Soon after, they requested Nick Hoover to depart the group and brought in Mark Klepaski, an old acquaintance who played bass.

After relocating back to his home state of Pennsylvania in 1999, Burnley formed the band Plan 9 with drummer Jeremy Hummel. At first, there were only three members of the band.

Burnley handled lead vocals and guitars, Hummel played drums, and Jason Davoli played bass. On rare occasions, Plan 9 would open for Lifer before their own headline events. Burnley reclaimed the band’s 1998 moniker when he announced, “Thank you, we were Breaking Benjamin,” onstage.

Klepaski eventually quit Lifer and joined Breaking Benjamin, where he played bass. Lifer’s problems persisted, and a few months later, Aaron Fink joined Benjamin on stage for a special performance. After Fink’s departure from Lifer, Burnley’s band expanded to a quartet with the addition of the new member.

What’s New And What’s In Conflict

Midway through 2010, Benjamin Burnley ceased performing and travelling with the band permanently due to Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, a non-life-threatening condition brought on by chronic alcohol abuse.

Burnley said he would continue making music after he recovered from his illness, but things got complicated in 2011.

Bassist Mark Klepaski and rock band Aaron Fink were fired via email for releasing various content on the band’s behalf and for retroactively granting Hollywood Records consent to record an updated model of Blow Me Away in exchange for a $100,000 payment.

In the end, a $750,000 lawsuit was filed against Klepaski and Fink. Even after the litigation was resolved, Benjamin Burnley said he would keep composing music.

On April 2013, Burnley posted on Facebook to declare that he had prevailed in the lawsuit and will keep using the Breaking Benjamin moniker. A year later, percussionist Chad Szeliga cited “creative issues” as the reason for his departure.

“The End of the Day” is song written by Benjamin Burnley and his close friend Adam Gontier, who he has worked with on his solo work and who he has collaborated with on media including video games. At the same time, Burnley and his good friend Aaron Bruch kept doing acoustic gigs at local bars and cafes in late 2013.

Family And Other Private Matters

Burnley’s album Phobia (2006) takes its name from the band’s struggles with various phobias.

Burnley’s phobia of flying is depicted on the cover of Phobias by a figure with wings floating above the earth, which is why Breaking Benjamin has never toured outside of North America.

Burnley also has a phobia for the dark and hypochondria. He claims not to trust in a person’s money to go and to wish to postpone death for as prolonged as possible, resulting in he avoids all forms of transportation other than walking or driving until absolutely necessary.

On the album We Are Not Alone, the song Break My Fall features a pilot saying, “Mayday, mayday,” alluding to his fears of flying. Obtain landing clearance. The plane is out of my hands. Crashing is a real possibility right now.

Because Burnley is a huge Halo 2 fan, he suggested that Breaking Benjamin cover the song “Blow Me Away” for the game’s official soundtrack. Polyamorous (together with Firefly) may be heard in the video games Run Like Hell, WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw, and WWE Day of Reckoning. NASCAR 07 will feature Jane’s journal.

In A Conversation With Listenin.Org, Burnley Said That He Had Tried To Drink Him To Death

He claims to have suffered from Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome as a result of his heavy drinking in the past and to deeply regret having ever taken a sip of alcohol.

According to reports, Dear Agony was the first Breaking Benjamin song Burnley ever wrote sober. His family tree includes three previous Benjamin Jackson Burnleys before him. His great-grandfather, grandfather, and uncle all came before him.

Since 1967, the Burnley family in Middleburg, Pennsylvania has owned and operated B.J. Burnley Company. Sadly, in June 29, 2010, just at age of 54, his uncle Benjamin Jackson Burnley 3 passed away. After Burnley III’s passing, the business was shut down.
