In honour of Saint Tatiana, a Christian martyr in third-century Rome during the reign of Emperor Alexander Severus, Russians celebrate Tatiana Day (Russian: атнин дeн, Tatyanin den’), also known as Tatyana’s Day or ‘Tetyana’s Day’Students Day.
Tatiana’s Name Day is today, too. St. Tatiana’s Day is celebrated by the Russian Orthodox Church on the equivalent of the 25th of January in the Gregorian calendar, which is 12 January Julian.
Students Day celebrates the conclusion of the Russian academic year and the end of winter exams. Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and other former republics of the Soviet Union all celebrate this day with great fervor.
