There was a huge cliffhanger at the end of Outlander’s sixth season as Jamie and Ian set out on their rescue mission to try to save Claire Randall. After she was found guilty of the murder of Malva, the world turned upside down. Nobody knows who the second-time traveler in town is.
This season of Outlander, Sam Heughan is giving the haziest information about what is to come. Jamie and Claire’s journey of self-discovery will continue in the seventh season, which will feature a flashback to the finale of the previous season.
As if the country is in turmoil, the pair’s prophecies of death and revolution are causing a stir. The new season’s first two episodes are fantastic, but that is the extent of the show’s production.
In addition to storylines and characters, there are also a few newcomers to consider. Many new characters, including Jamie Fraser’s son and others, are on the way, so fans can expect a lot of excitement.
Outlander Season 7 Premiere Date
That we don’t have a premiere date just yet is understandable. In the past, we’d been told that the season would begin in the latter part of 2022 or early in 2023. At this point, it appears that filming will begin in the early months of 2023, rather than the originally planned start date of early 2022.
If that happens, the season could be split in half. That is something to keep an eye on as time draws nearer.
If the early 2023 release date is correct, we can expect confirmation by the end of this year.
Outlander Season 7 Plot
Outlander season 7 is based on the seventh book in the series, An Echo in the Bone, but we don’t know what the official plot synopsis is for the show yet. The next chapter will be easier to envision now that we have this information.
After Jamie’s involvement in the war, we’ll still be following the Fraser family in the early 1700s, right in the middle of the American Revolution. Lord John and Lord John’s’son’ (cough, cough) William will face our dashing hero on the other side of the battlefield if the novel’s plot goes according to plan.
That said, we’re confident that the seventh season of Outlander will feature more of Jamie’s secret son, William Ransom, who we last saw as a child. A full-grown William, still in the dark about his real father’s identity… for the time being, at least, has been confirmed to make a triumphant return. Charles Vandervaart was announced as William’s adult counterpart in May of 2022.
Season 7 Of Outlander Will Consist Of How Many Episodes?
There will be 16 episodes in season 7 of Outlander, making it the most extensive season yet. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, season 6 had to be reduced to just eight episodes, and now Starz is making up for the lost time with an extended new season (yay).
According to Caitriona Balfe, the seventh season of Game of Thrones has a few more episodes than the previous one. “What we did was we took the four episodes that we would have filmed [for season six] and we are now having them at the beginning of season seven, so season seven is going to be a 16-episode season,” Balfe said.
“I think in that way, we are still able to do Outlander in the same way that we have always been able to do it; we take our time, we allow the story to unfold.”
When it comes to television, we’re happy to see more episodes of “Downton Abbey” following the “droughtlander” that viewers had to deal with last year.
Who Will Be In The Cast Of Outlander Season 7?
Caitriona Balfe will reprise her role as Claire Randall Fraser, Sam Heughan will reprise his role as Jamie and Richard Rankin will play Roger Wakefield. Sophie Skelton will reprise her role as Brianna Randall in season 7.
These books feature all of the main characters, so you can count on the following actors to return:
• Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser)
• Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser)
• Richard Rankin (Roger Mackenzie)
• Sophie Skelton (Brianna Mackenzie)
Additionally, we’d expect to see some familiar faces, such as:
• John Bell (Young Ian)
• Lauren Lyle (Marsali)
• Cesar Domboy (Fergus)
• Caitlin O’Ryan (Lizzie)
• David Berry (Lord John)
Major additions to the main cast for season 6 include the antagonist roles of Tom and Allan Christie played respectively by actors Mark Lewis Jones, Alexander Vlahos, and Jessica Reynolds.
It was announced that Jessica Reynolds would not be returning to play Malva Christie in the seventh season, following a major plot twist in which Malva was killed off.
What Else Can We Expect From Season 7?
It looks like we’ll have a lot to look forward to in season 7. The fact that we’re watching Outlander is self-evident. If Malva’s killer can be found, Claire will be able to get out of jail first and foremost. However, we don’t know how the show will deal with this in the books.
“Scotland will again be our production home as the Frasers and MacKenzies try to make a home against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War,” says showrunner, executive producer, and writer Matthew B. Roberts. For the first time, Season 7 is set to deliver more thrills, spills, and heartbreaks than any of the previous seasons.”
