One Piece Film: Red Story

A major focus of One Piece Film: Red is Shanks, the pirate who first inspired Luffy to join the pirate life.

Shanks has always been a minor character in the anime, and he hasn’t been given much attention. As a shadow, he keeps an eye on Luffy and the world around him with the help of plot armour.

Shanks and his daughter Uta’s story is supposed to be told in this film. From the trailer, it appears that she will play the role of the antagonist, but will end up becoming a friend of straw pirates in the end. She has been obscured by mystery.

Uta is a human who has lived with the Sky Tribe for a long time, according to the interviews that surrounded this film. a group of people made up of members of the three extant moon races. A good example of this is the Skypeian race, which we’ve seen before in the anime.

Because the past five films have all featured a stereotypically male villain, Eichiro Oda wanted to give Uta a more sinister role in this film. It’s not so much a departure from the formula as a return to the villain type we saw in the previous films.

In the trailer, Shanks is seen talking to a young Uta in a castle-like setting. Even though this scene takes place ten years before Luffy’s adventure begins, Shanks has not yet given Luffy his iconic Straw Hat. Shanks is also not a Yonko at this point, as he only took up the role four years prior to Luffy’s trip beginning. That even though he and Uta have broken up, she will always be his daughter is something Shanks tells her in a chat.
