‘Not Okay’ Movie: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot, And More Updates!

Searchlight Pictures’ forthcoming film “Not Okay” now has an official trailer. Danni (Zoey Deutch) is an aspiring writer who lies about going on a retreat in Paris in order to impress her influencer coworker Colin (Dylan O’Brien). When she learns that Paris was the target of a major terrorist attack, she uses her photo-editing skills to fool everyone into thinking she’s a survivor. As opposed to telling the truth, Danni chooses to lean in, finally achieving the fame and power she had always desired. Rowan (Mia Isaac) is a fellow survivor she meets at a support group, and things get out of hand fast. See the full trailer after the jump….

Here’s what the studio Searchlight Pictures have to say about the film: “No friends, no love, and no Instagram followers, Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch) fakes an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of increasing her social media clout. One of Paris’ most terrifying incidents leads Danni into a lie she didn’t intend to believe. This time she returns to the hero’s role as she forms an unlikely friendship with real-life trauma victim Rowan and falls in love with Colin (Dylan O’Brien), the man of her dreams. Danni finally has the life and audience she’s always dreamed of thanks to her work as an advocate and an influencer. Her facade will eventually fall, and she will discover the hard way just how much the Internet loves a good comeback.”

It is Quinn Shephard’s first feature film as both a writer and director. After “The Outfit” in 2021, this is Deutch and O’Brien’s second on-screen reunion. All the information we have so far about the upcoming film is included here.

Not Okay Release Date

The premiere of Not Okay on Hulu is scheduled for Friday, July 29th, 2022, at 3:00 A.M. (tentative time). Comedy and social commentary are intertwined in this darkly comedic satire of modern society and its reliance on digital technology.

As of July 21, 2022, Hulu has released the film’s official trailer, which provides a glimpse into the life of the protagonist as she goes about her day-to-day routine. The trailer begins with Danni Sanders receiving an editor’s feedback on an article she wrote, which is featured prominently. By calling her article “offensive” and saying that she is only a photo editor, the editor tells her that she is not a writer. This establishes the central conflict of the character.

Not Okay Movie Storyline

Attempting to gain attention, Danni Sanders, an aspiring influencer and writer, goes to great lengths by posing as a Parisian tourist in the dark comedy Not Okay. When her new followers mistakenly believe that she is the only survivor of an attack, she is caught off guard.

In a world of likes, dislikes, and cancellations, what does it mean to be real? Danni is obligated to provide an answer to each of these concerns. Danni must. According to the official synopsis on Hulu and Disney+, the film is based on a novel called “To increase her social media influence, aimless aspirant novelist Danni Sanders pretends to go to Paris on an Instagram-friendly trip to enhance her fictitious following.

Only after a horrible incident occurs in the City of Lights does Danni realize she’s been duped. While returning to her heroic self, Rowan (Mia Isaac), another real-life trauma survivor who is committed to social change and falls in love with her long-time crush, Colin (Dylan O’Brien), is introduced to her.

Both Deutch and O’Brien are well-known for their roles as Infinity Jackson and Stiles Stilinski, respectively, in Netflix’s The Politician, and for their recent work in Taylor Swift’s short film All Too Well, in which they co-starred with Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink.
