Who Is Swami Vivekananda?

The eighth child of Vishwanath Dutta and Bhuvaneshwari Devi, Vivekananda was born in Calcutta as Narendranath Dutta into a wealthy Bengali family. To coincide with Makar Sankranti, he was born on January 12, 1863. Attorney Father Vishwanath had a lot of social clout and was successful. The mother of Narendranath, Bhuvaneshwari, had a profound influence on her son because she possessed a powerful, fearful mind.

Narendranath had been a bright child even as a young boy. Even though he was mischievous, he had a passion for vocal and instrumental music. At the Metropolitan school and later at the Presidency College in Calcutta, he performed exceptionally well in his academic endeavours. He had a wide range of knowledge about many subjects by the time he received his college degree. He was involved in athletics, wrestling, gymnastics, and bodybuilding. He read voraciously and became knowledgeable about almost anything. He read the Bhagvad Gita and the Upanishads, among other Hindu texts, and studied Herbert Spencer, Johann Gottlieb Fichte, David Hume, and other western philosophers, historians, and spiritualists.

Ramkrishna Paramhansa And His Relationship With Him

In the past, Narendranath visited eminent spiritual figures from all religions and asked them one simple question: “Have you seen God?”. He always left without providing a satisfactory response.

At his residence in the Dakshinewar Kali Temple grounds, he posed the same query to Sri Ramkrishna. Sri Ramakrishna answered without any hesitation: “I have, in fact. Only in a much deeper way do I see God as clearly as I do you.” Ramakrishna’s response stunned Vivekananda, who had been initially unimpressed by his simplicity.

This argumentative young man was eventually won over by Ramakrishna’s love and patience. Narendranath’s questions were answered as he travelled to Dakshineshwar more frequently.

End of an Era Swami Vivekananda had said he would not live past the age of forty. He began his workday at the Belur Math on July 4, 1902, by instructing the students in Sanskrit grammar. After retiring for the night, he passed away at around nine in his room while meditating. The great saint was allegedly “Mahasamadhi” when he died and was cremated on the banks of the Ganges.

Swami Vivekananda’s 5 Lessons That Can Change Your Life

In The Midst Of Adversity, Have Courage

The acceptance that life includes both the good and the bad is among Vivekananda’s most important teachings. Furthermore, in order for the good days to come, one must have the strength to get through the bad ones. When you finally come to terms with this, you’ll not only have the fortitude to face the world, but you’ll also be more upbeat in the face of challenges and difficulties.

Vivekananda concurred with the notion that if one wants to experience life to the fullest, they must face every challenge head-on rather than attempt to avoid them. Isn’t this a key lesson that we all need to apply in the modern world if we want to make a real difference?

Having Persistence Is Important

How frequently do we lose heart when faced with challenges and abandon our objectives? But Swami Vivekananda thought highly of people and thought that if people are persistent enough, they have the power to overcome any obstacle.

According to Swami Vivekananda, if you are persistent enough in your efforts to achieve your goals, you will succeed. Because of this, it doesn’t matter if you keep trying despite failing repeatedly; eventually, you will succeed.

Affirm Yourself

You must first believe in yourself, according to Swami Vivekananda, if you want to change the world. Vivekananda’s teachings are intended to enable every person to realise their own potential.

Aside from that, just because you think differently doesn’t necessarily imply that you’re mistaken. So instead of listening to others’ opinions and letting go of your convictions, you must have faith in yourself and continue down the path you believe is best for you.

To Progress, You Must Struggle

We learned from Swami Vivekananda that if everything comes easily to you, you will never realise your full potential. This is the most effective mantra for assisting you in realising the true meaning of life and your own potential among Swami Vivekananda’s most inspiring teachings.

In order to find your truest and best self, you must continually push yourself and your limits. The following time you encounter a dead end, keep this in mind and make an effort to get past it.

Being selfless Is The Only Way To Truly Be happy

People prioritise their own interests over all other values in the world we live in, usually to their own detriment. This teaching of Swami Vivekananda must therefore be incorporated into such a world.

He held the view that in order to contribute to the greater well-being of those around you, you must be willing to share your resources if you have them. You will experience an incomparable level of happiness if you engage in acts of selfless kindness.

Conclusion

The world’s nature, according to Swami Vivekananda, is determined by the people who live in it. Therefore, if all of humanity exhibited empathy for one another and held a commitment to working for the welfare of others, the world would also be kinder to us.
