The American Lung Association of North Carolina is encouraging residents of Charlotte to start the new year off right by participating in National Take the Stairs Day on January 13 and committing to a healthier lifestyle by signing up for the Fight For Air Climb to raise money and awareness for lung health.

For the first time ever, on March 27th, the Fight For Air Climb presented by Landmark Builders will be held outdoors at Truist Field, Home of the Charlotte Knights. For the sake of the participants, volunteers, and staff, the event was reimagined as an outdoor climb challenge instead of taking place in The VUE’s stairwells. For those who are unable to attend the actual event, the organisation has a virtual alternative called “Climb Your Way.”

National Every second Wednesday in January is National Take the Stairs Day. If you want to do something fun to commemorate the occasion, you should probably go for a run. Elevator? Where is the lift? Try running around the neighbourhood or riding your bike to the office if you want to step things up a notch. As long as you’re moving around and keeping your heart rate up, you’ll be fine.

Nowadays, protecting one’s lungs is more crucial than ever. You might be surprised to learn that more than 3.7 million Americans suffer from lung conditions like asthma and lung cancer. Each year since its inception in 2016, the United States has observed National Take the Stairs Day. Many American Lung Association (ALA) chapters host events and activities in honour of National Take the Stairs Day to raise awareness and funds for lung health education and research.

The American Lung Association suggests signing up for their annual fundraising event, the Fight for Air Climb, on National Take the Stairs Day. Climbing the escalators of some of the United States’ most recognisable skyscrapers is the centrepiece of these nationwide fundraising events.

The Fight for Air Climb, in its 42 different iterations, is a fantastic way to get involved in a community event that benefits one’s physical health while also raising money for a worthy cause: lung health awareness. Invigorating cities like San Francisco, Dallas, Providence, and New York are available for stair climbing. In honour of National Take the Stairs Day, some of these activities may also offer free admission or reduced admission prices.
