However, on Tuesday, the case was dropped by the district attorney’s office after a witness admitted that he had never seen one of the men, who was sitting in the passenger’s seat,
attempt to steal the camera through the car window, according to a statement issued by the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office. In addition, the agency stated that the suspect’s DNA was not discovered on the camera.

Kleigh Hathaway, a deputy public defender who represented the driver, said that the prosecution did the ethical thing in dismissing these charges because none of the physical evidence corroborated the early assumptions reported by an unreliable witness. “The prosecution did the ethical thing in dismissing these charges,” Hathaway said.
A spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office named Randy Quezada stated that the office’s objective is “to prosecute cases professionally, fairly, and impartially.”
Mel Honowitz, a close friend of the Palladino family and attorney, claimed that the Palladino family is disheartened by the termination. According to him, there was enough circumstantial evidence to demonstrate that the men attempted to steal Palladino’s camera, which ultimately led to Palladino’s murder.
According to him, however, there was no video recording of the time when Palladino made contact with the individuals.
Honowitz stated that there was no doubt in their minds and that it was their view that the two defendants were in fact the ones who murdered Jack Palladino. “We were aware of the decision made by the prosecutor in this case. It’s not something we necessarily agree with,”

The public defender’s office utilised the case dismissal to bring attention to a significant backlog of outstanding trials at the San Francisco Superior Court, which has resulted in the detention of suspects pending trial. The court proceeding was scheduled to begin in September of 2021.
According to the records, both of the males were freed from a jail in San Francisco.
Palladino was a colourful character whose long and successful career in the public eye extended more than four decades.
Among his clients was Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign in 1992, which engaged him to discredit women who were coming out with allegations that they had had sex with the candidate for president.
He was also the investigator for the family of a 14-year-old kid who accused musician Michael Jackson of sexually abusing him and obtained a multimillion-dollar settlement from Jackson’s estate as a result of his allegations. In relation to that incident, Jackson was never arrested or charged with a crime.
