Justice Clarence Thomas’s Wife Ginni Lobbied Wisconsin Legislators To Alter The 2020 Election Outcome!

WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN At least two Wisconsin legislators received emails from Ginni Thomas, a longtime conservative activist and the wife of a U.S. Supreme Court justice, in the days after President Donald Trump’s 2020 loss, urging them to change the outcome of Wisconsin’s presidential election.

Using a mass emailing programme, Thomas asked Senate Elections Committee chairwoman Kathy Bernier and state Rep. Gary Tauchen, R-Bonduel, to “take action to ensure that a clean slate of Electors is chosen for our state” on November 9, 2020, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel using public records requests.

The Washington Post, which first reported Thomas’ emails to Wisconsin legislators, has also obtained his messages to legislators in Arizona, another swing state, urging them to take similar measures.

Bernier told the Journal Sentinel that Thomas might have emailed all Wisconsin legislators, but that she and Tauchen kept all of the copies. To the extent that no citizen has specifically requested a legislator’s emails, the law permits them to be deleted.

It wasn’t like she took the time to sit down and compose an email to me and Gary Tauchen, Bernier said in an interview.

In June, the Journal Sentinel asked for all emails sent between Thomas and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos beginning in July of 2020. Vos’ staff members said there weren’t any relevant files in the office.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s recusal from cases involving the 2020 presidential election has been called into question after his wife decided to send messages to lawmakers in swing states to overturn President Joe Biden’s victories.

Bernier argued that Ginni Thomas’s recent behaviour was not representative of her husband.

Your First Amendment rights remain unaffected by the actions of your spouse, children, or other members of your immediate family. I’m sure she wouldn’t have done it if she thought it would have a negative effect on Justice Thomas, but in all likelihood, that was just her opinion.

Professional Independence

In a recent interview with the Washington Free Beacon, Ginni Thomas denied the existence of any bias in her work. We each pursue our own individual lines of work and hold our own unique viewpoints. “Clarence doesn’t talk to me about his work, and I don’t include him in mine,

” she recently told the magazine. She mentioned that she worked for Liberty Consulting at the time, but she didn’t give any details about who her clients were.

However, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats have stated their desire to move forward with developing an ethics code for Supreme Court justices.

Ginni Thomas’s book value and the fact that she receives a salary and benefits from her company are all that are revealed in the court’s financial disclosure forms.

According to a review of public filings by CNBC and researchers at watchdog Documented, Liberty Consulting, which has an office in a generic strip mall in suburban Virginia, counts among its clients the Center for Security Policy, a nonprofit founded by a conservative activist accused of anti-Muslim rhetoric, and a political action committee titled FedUp PAC.

According to the data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, the PAC supported Roy Moore, the discredited Alabama Senate candidate. Moore has denied the sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

‘It’s A Big Problematic

The top ethics lawyer in the White House during the Bush administration, Richard Painter, recently called Ginni Thomas’s writing “very problematic” in a phone interview. According to Painter, her husband may have to recuse himself from cases in which he has a conflict of interest because the Supreme Court’s rules

do not require spouses to publicly disclose their income or involvement with anyone who may have a stake in a Supreme Court case.

Kedric Payne, general counsel of the watchdog Campaign Legal Center, has made a similar claim: a judge’s recusal may be warranted if any financial interest connected to the justice’s spouse reaches the court.

Justices who have any doubts about their objectivity are required to step down from cases. Payne told CNBC that recusal may be necessary in cases that involve the spouse of a justice and involve financial or otherwise significant interests of that spouse. Since the 1990s, Clarence Thomas has taken 54 recusals, including 17 times to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest due to his son.

Voting For Trump

Groups funded by Leo’s allies lobbied in favor of Trump’s nominees and have since attacked President Biden’s judicial appointees, such as Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. Leo-affiliated nonprofits share a stigma with their progressive counterparts, who are also known as “dark money” groups because they don’t disclose their donors to the public.

Included in Leo’s vast network of organizations that seek to affect policy, judicial nominations, and the larger conservative movement is the newly established 85 Fund.

Liberty Consulting was paid $5,000 by the FedUp PAC, led by conservative political advertising veteran Richard Viguerie, during the 2018 election cycle for “video production,” as the PAC describes it in its filing. Liberty Consulting, which is owned and operated by Ginni Thomas, has the same name and address as the one provided in the FEC filing.

Later, during the 2020 election cycle, the PAC put in over $100,000 to help Trump win reelection. According to federal campaign disclosure data, the PAC did not pay Liberty Consulting for any services during that cycle.

When contacted by CNBC, Bob Mills, who is listed as the super PAC’s director on its website, could not recall the specific work that Liberty Consulting conducted for the organization and did not respond to subsequent emails asking for more information.
