Early Life & Biography Of John Lewis
On the 21st of February 1940, John Robert Lewis was born in the city of Troy, Alabama. His parents, Eddie Lewis and Willie Mae, are the third of their family’s 10 children to be born, and they are the third kid themselves.
In Alabama’s distant Pike County, where the family lived, John’s parents made their living as sharecroppers.
John’s interactions with white people were limited when he was a young child, and by the time he was six years old, he had only ever spoken to two white individuals in his entire life. When John was a young boy, he had small contact with white people.
As John Lewis got older, he started accompanying his family on outings and excursions around the city. At the public library, Lewis was subjected to racism and segregation at the hands of white people when he was on his tours.
John Lewis, on the other hand, had family members who lived in cities in the north, and he learned from them that there were integrated schools, businesses, and buses in the north.
When John Lewis was eleven years old, his uncle accompanied him on a vacation to Buffalo, New York, and afterwards became even more acutely aware of segregation in Troy as a result of his experiences there.
In 1955, John Lewis was listening to the radio when he first learned of Martin Luther King, Jr. Later that same year, he paid close attention to the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The following year, when John Lewis was 17 years old, he met Rosa Parks. The following year, when John Lewis was 18 years old, he met Martin Luther King Jr.

Career Of John Lewis
John Lewis enrolled at the American Baptist Theological Seminary, which was located in Nashville, Tennessee, in the academic year 1957. John Lewis did study on nonviolent forms of protest while he was a student at the Seminary.
He also assisted in organising sit-ins at segregated lunch counters. The fact that John Lewis got arrested while demonstrating did not make his mother pleased, and she did not approve of him participating in the demonstrations.
Despite this, he remained completely committed to the Civil Rights Movement and continued to take part in the Freedom Rides in 1961.
The Freedom Riders’ intention to challenge the segregated facilities that were present at the interstate bus terminals in the South was deemed unlawful by the Supreme Court.
As the demonstrations progressed, they got increasingly dangerous, and the majority of the participants, including John Lewis, were eventually beaten and detained.
John Lewis was named head of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in 1963, the same year that he was named one of the “Big Six” leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.
John Lewis was one of the people who helped plan the March on Washington, and because he was the youngest speaker at the event, he was required to modify his remarks in order to appease the other organisers. Despite this, John was still able to make a compelling
argument and deliver a decent statement by stating that everyone acknowledged the fact that the masses, also known as the people, must drive out any major political, social, or economic changes that are implemented in their community.

According to his relatives, John Lewis passed away as a result of complications from pancreatic cancer. Coronavirus has not been brought up by his family, and there is no basis for suspecting that it was involved in his passing.
Since he was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in December, Lewis has fought his illness in a manner that is largely open to the public. When he first disclosed that he was unwell, he issued a statement that included the following passage in part:
“I have been in some type of fight – for freedom, equality, and basic human rights — for practically the entirety of my life.” I have never been in a battle that compares to the one I am in right now.”
At the time, Lewis was serving in the House of Representatives for the 17th time. During an interview in June on CBS’s Gayle King, the longtime congressman and civil rights leader discussed his therapy in an open and honest manner, suggesting that he had good cause to be positive about his recovery.
In part of his speech, he stated, “I have a lovely doctor and nurse, and everybody is taking good care of me.” I have a lot of faith and am filled with optimism.
