Julie Andrews recalls the moment she and her pal Carol Burnett shared a passionate kiss, which was witnessed by a certain first lady.
The 85-year-old Oscar winner recounted the incident, which occurred at a charity event in the 1960s, on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this week. Andrews claimed that she and Burnett, 87, decided to kill time in the hotel elevator. While waiting for their buddy Mike Nichols and they thought to pull a little prank.
People of all orientations love her, but the LGBT community especially appreciates her outlandish humour and exaggerated stage antics. She’s a singer, actor, and comedian who has influenced a lot of LGBT artists.

Carol Burnett, had a rough upbringing but became one of the most beloved performers on television as a guest star on shows like “The Garry Moore Show” (CBS, 1950–1967).
The star of her own critically acclaimed sketch comedy series, “The Carol Burnett Show,” for almost 50 years, was a pioneer in the field of American television comedy. She is an inspiration to female and male comics alike (CBS, 1967-1978). Burnett also won a Tony for her Broadway debut in “Once Upon a Mattress,” proving that she was a talented musical performer (1959).
Despite the fact that none of her subsequent programmes were able to match the success of “The Carol Burnett Show,”. Burnett continued to receive praise for her guest roles in a wide variety of comedies and proved herself a formidable serious performer in the 1979 TV movie “Friendly Fire.”

Hollywood great Julie Andrews has opened up about being outed as gay. Saying that she was once caught kissing famed US comic Carol Burnett in front of the First Lady at a reception in the 1960s.
The 85-year-old Sound of Music star recounted the incident on Thursday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. She said that it occurred during a benefit event that was hosted in the same hotel as Lyndon B. Johnson’s inauguration.
Andrews and Burnett planned to “do something ridiculous” as a joke while waiting for their friend Mike Nichols to arrive.
“The hotel was quite busy, but at that hour it was rather quiet,” she said to Kelly Clarkson. We chose to wait for Mike on a sofa near the elevators. When Mike got off the elevator, I swear I couldn’t tell you who came up with the idea to make a fool of ourselves. So I suggested to him, “Well, let’s be kissing or something,” and we did.
When the elevator doors opened, the two celebs realised that it was “just filled with Secret Service men,”. So they broke off their joking “big embrace” and entered separately. After that, each elevator “ping” brought in a fresh set of hotel guests, but Mike was nowhere in sight.
Eventually, a woman emerged; Andrews claims Carol is certain it was Lady Bird Johnson. The woman went down the hall, realised it could be us, and returned. We were both laughing so hard that tears were streaming down our faces, and Carol went around the back of the couch to join us.

The Friendship Between Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett!
In a June interview with Debra Messing for Entertainment Weekly, Burnett, now 87 years old, discussed how she first met Andrews and how they quickly became fast friends.
An acquaintance of hers knew me, too. He was an intermediary who urged a meeting between the parties. She recalled their supper together with two other friends and saying, “There’s something about the two of you.” So, the two guys were chilling out, and Julie and I were chatting away. All that happened was that we kept talking. It was instantly comfortable as if we’d known each other forever.
The women hit it off and went on to appear in three TV programs together.

It’s been over 50 years since Carol was rumoured, yet she’s still not out. It’s completely unproven that she is. Three husbands later, she is still married to the third.
