In New York City, A Man, 83 Years Old, Was Pushed To The Ground In A Crossing, Prompting Police To Arrive

This week, a thug in Manhattan shoved an 83-year-old individual unconscious at a crossing, and police have been trying to track him down ever since.

At roughly 3:20 p.m. on February 8, the victim reported to police that an unknown assailant had pushed him towards the ground as he was strolling near the intersection of West 61st Avenue and Broadway.

The perpetrator ran south on Broadway while the victim was brought to Mt. Hospital West for treatment of a head wound.

The police said the suspect is a white male, 5’8″, around 180 pounds, and also in his 30s. When he was last seen, he was donning a black jacket & blue jeans.

And What If This Occurs To You?

In 2018, our law company won an unprecedented $85 million award for a man who was severely injured when he was struck by a double-decker tourist bus.

The jury’s decision ranks as the 25th richest in the United States in 2018 and the highest in New York State. The incident occurred near the intersection of West 4th Street and 6th Avenue in the Financial District of Manhattan.

Even though the light was green, he was hit by a tour bus as he crossed the street. The vehicle ran over her leg and carried him for several feet before stopping.

There were nine operations performed on the 54-year-old victim during his 78 days of treatment. Soon later, he underwent two more procedures. He used to run frequently but now he has to use a brace and is in constant discomfort.

Numberless New York City Walkers Suffer Injuries Or Lose Their Lives Every Year

Thousands of pedestrians in New York City and the rest of the state are hurt or killed every year because of car accidents. In fact, dozens of pedestrians have indeed been killed in New York City when hit by a car in only the past few years.

Although only roughly eight percent of all automobile crashes in New York involve pedestrian crashes, the severity of injuries sustained in these accidents is much higher, as reported by the state government.

Over three-quarters (72%) of all pedestrian accidents and 59% of all pedestrian deaths occur in urban areas, with the big apple being particularly hard hit.

The majority of the time, motorists are to blame when they hit pedestrians. Causes include cars who are going too fast for conditions, disobeying traffic signals, or failing to give pedestrians, especially those at crosswalks, the right of way.

As of late, distracted or careless driving has been singled out as the leading cause of car crashes in the Empire State. One common cause of this is a driver’s attention being diverted by something else, such as a cell phone or text message.

A Universally Applicable Set Of Laws

Both the city of New York and the state of New York have passed laws intended to safeguard pedestrians from becoming victims of car accidents.

Having an attorney who is well-versed in the relevant provisions of the Old York States Automobile and Traffic Law and the New York City Highway Rules and Regulation as established by that of the New York Metropolitan Department of Infrastructure is often crucial to the successful settlement of such claims.

When a pedestrian is struck by a car, they may still be subject to certain, complex insurance laws.

If the victim or some members of the victim’s family have obtained car liability insurance, the attorney must be conversant with the insurance rules applicable to the accident in order to ensure that the victim obtains the maximum reimbursement allowable under the law.

In addition, there are statutes of limitations that dictate how long an injured motorist has to file a claim in court before losing their entitlement to financial recompense.

In some states, the No-Fault Insurance coverage will cover the medical bills of a pedestrian who was hit by a car.

Medical bills incurred as a result of a car crash can only be reimbursed if the appropriate No-Fault Insurance provider receives the necessary information and forms within a certain time frame (typically 30 days).

An injured person’s right to reimbursement for necessary medical expenses may be jeopardised if they do not supply all of the needed information within the specified time restrictions.
