What Happened The Night Of The Crime?

On Sunday, November 13th, at 11:58 a.m., police got a complaint of a person who appeared to be unconscious. They discovered the bodies of four University of Idaho students on the second and third levels.

In addition to Xana Kernodle and her housemates Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, the fourth victim, Ethan Chapin, did not actually live in the house but was dating one of the roommates. Two other housemates also resided there, but they were not targeted; authorities suspect they were asleep during the slayings.

According to the police report, Chapin and Kernodle were last seen together at a party hosted by the Sigma Chi fraternity on the campus of the University of Idaho on Saturday night. On Sunday, November 13th, at around 1:45 a.m., they got back to their house.

Later that night, Mogen and Goncalves were spotted at a pub in central Moscow called The Corner Club. Police said that at around 1:45 a.m., the pair exited the bar, ate at a food truck, and then both went home.

Witnesses say they saw both women at the club, which is characterised as a popular nightlife spot among college students, and livestream video corroborated their visit to the food truck, so investigators are confident that their reported whereabouts throughout the night are accurate.

Mogen and Goncalves were allegedly spotted at the Corner Club at 1:30 a.m. on November 13 on leaked photos purportedly captured from surveillance cameras and widely posted online in December.

In a December 27 post, the Moscow Police Department appeared to acknowledge the leak of pictures. The police claimed at the time that they couldn’t check the veracity of any media coverage of the murder investigation that hadn’t been disclosed through official channels.

“Members of the public and the media have often asked for help verifying the accuracy of online digital content. When requesting public records, you may trust that any photo or video you receive “I’m told that the police said.

“Once a recording has been made public, however, its authenticity cannot be checked because it is impossible to tell if it has been tampered with. Local companies often distribute videos, and the police are aware of this.”

The Moscow police department announced on December 29 that cleanup efforts at the residence would begin on December 30. As part of this process, “possible biohazards and other dangerous substances used to collect evidence” will be eliminated, according to the police.

After the cleanup is done, authorities say the home will be released to the property management firm. No time frame was given.

Who Were The Victims?

Madison Mogen, a 21-year-old marketer from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was a graduating senior at her college. Also a senior, Kaylee Goncalves, a native of Rathdrum, Idaho, 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves majored in general studies.

Kaylee’s father, Steve Goncalves, told hundreds of mourners during a vigil for the dead children that his daughter and one of the shooters had been best friends since sixth grade.

“They met in high school and ended up attending the same universities and colleges, which is how they ended here in this city. One day they found themselves sharing an apartment, “According to Steve Goncalves. And in the end, they passed away side by side in the same bed and chamber.

Madison’s father, Ben Mogen, said at the memorial, “everything she ever did was such a significant issue” because she was his only child. Mogen revealed that “Maddie” was the pride of his life, and that he and Maddie spent a lot of time together enjoying live music.

Who Were The Victims?

According to his mom, Stacy Chapin, Ethan Chapin was one of a set of triplets that also included a brother and a sister. She recalled how, when the kids were smaller, the family spent many hours together attending their different sporting events and making an effort to eat supper together whenever possible.

She explained that the triplets choose the University of Idaho because of its small town atmosphere, gorgeous campus, and active Greek community.

Mortenson and Funke, the two remaining roommates, praised the foursome in an open letter read by their pastor in which they used words like “unstoppable” and “perfect” to describe the bond between Chapin and Kernodle.

It won’t be the same without you,” Funke remarked. “You were all gifts to this world in your own individual manner.”

Final Words

In spite of allegations to the contrary, the murder suspect in Idaho has had a quiet stay behind bars despite being placed on suicide watch.

Monroe County Jail warden Garry Haidle says 28-year-old criminology student Bryan Kohberger has been on suicide watch since the day of his arrest on December 30. yet it wasn’t because they feared he may kill himself.

According to Haidle, this is routine procedure for convicts held in a maximum-security facility who are accused of heinous crimes like the four counts of first-degree murder that Kohberger faces.
