Between 1978 and the date of his capture in 1991, Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Monster or Cannibal, believed to have killed at least seventeen people. They were all young men, mostly Black, Asian, or Latino.
Dahmer befriended hitchhiker Steven Hicks on June 18, 1978, and invited him to his parent’s house in Ohio for drinks. Hicks was Dahmer’s first victim. There, he used a dumbbell to knock the 18-year-old out, strangled him, cut him up, and buried his body in a shallow grave in the backyard.
