The early hours of Wednesday saw widespread shaking in Delhi as the aftershocks from a powerful earthquake in Nepal spread across the region. The quake hit at 1:57 a.m., with a magnitude of 6.3, and was felt all over. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake’s epicentre was in Nepal.

On November 9, 2022, at 1:57 IST, an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Nepal. The epicentre was located at 29°24′ N and 81°06′ E, with a depth of 10 km.

At 8:52 p.m. local time on Tuesday, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake was reported in Nepal, making this the second earthquake to hit the country in about five hours.

Multiple users reported the tremors on social media after they were felt in the nation’s capital.

Users have also been uploading footage of the moment the quake hit Delhi.

A Twitter user asked, “Did the Earthquake wake you up too?? “, and another user called the quakes “scary.”

An official with Delhi’s disaster management authority told HT that the city’s emergency operation centre has not received any calls about damage as a result of the earthquake.
