Body Found In Brooklyn Apartment After Report Of Foul Odor; Woman’s Death Deemed A Homicide

The body of a 43-year-old woman who was found dead in her Brooklyn apartment on Thursday. Had been there for “weeks or months” before police found it, and they believe she had been strangled.

At approximately 11:10 a.m. on December 15th, police discovered Tamara Graham’s horribly decomposed body. In her flat at the Albany Houses, a Housing Authority development on Troy Ave. in Crown Heights.

After receiving a 911 call regarding a suspicious stench, police found the tragic discovery.

Orette Williams, a nearby resident, remarked, “I was feeling the fragrance and I kept thinking, ‘I have to call Housing but it slipped my mind.'”

Graham’s death was first deemed a suicide. But the city’s medical examiner has since classified it a homicide due to strangulation, authorities said.

According to what Williams told Graham had worked as a carer for the previous tenant. And after he passed away, she remained in the flat.

When police arrived to a 911 call about a foul odour, they found Graham motionless and unconscious in his apartment’s living room. There were no outward symptoms of injury observed by police. It was determined that Graham had passed away at the scene.

However, police have not released the name of a suspect at this time. There have been no arrests thus far.

Who Was the Victim?

Body found in BK living room after report of foul odor; woman’s death deemed a homicide

The victim was named Thursday as Tamara Graham by the NYPD. Before noon on Thursday, December 15th, she was found unresponsive in the living room of her eighth-floor Albany Houses apartment on Troy Avenue.

Her Crown Heights apartment had an awful stench since her body had been left there to decompose for weeks.

The police first stated that they found no evidence suggesting that Graham had been beaten or murdered. To the surprise of her neighbours, the medical examiner and police have concluded that Graham was strangled to death.

“A combination of faeces, rotting flesh, and a fish market aroma characterises the air here. An offensive odour is coming from there “according to an anonymous neighbour. “Unfortunately, it appears that she was strangled; she was apparently strangled. At first I was worried she had overdosed on drugs. I had no idea something like that happened right next door. This is a terrifying prospect.”

Also, one of Graham’s neighbours mentioned that she had been taking care of an elderly guy. Who had passed away for quite some time, and that Graham currently resided alone.

The murder date and the length of time the woman’s body remained in the flat had left the neighbours puzzled. The NYPD and the medical examiner are collaborating to pinpoint the exact date of Graham’s death to late 2022. The news nonetheless came as a shock to her circle of acquaintances.

Drexel Dash, who was close with Graham, stated. “She was a decent person, she wasn’t the sort of person, not to be in problem, not to be a person that goes and makes trouble.” Inquiries are still being conducted at this time. A call for comment to the city’s medical examiner went unanswered.
