When Jeff was born, his mother was a 17-year-old high school student, and his father was a 19-year-old. Jrgensen was a Danish American who was born in Chicago to a Baptist family.

The family relocated to Houston, Texas, after Mike graduated from the University of New Mexico so that he could start working as an engineer for Exxon. From the fourth to the sixth grades, Jeff went to River Oaks Elementary School in Houston.
Lawrence Preston Gise, an Albuquerque-based regional director for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), was Jeff’s maternal grandfather.
Jeff spent many summers as a young boy at the family ranch near Cotulla, Texas, where Lawrence retired early.
Later, Jeff would buy this ranch and increase its size from 25,000 acres to 300,000 acres (121,406 ha). In order to keep his younger siblings out of his room, Jeff once rigged an electric alarm.
Jeff went to Miami Palmetto High School after the family relocated to Miami, Florida. Jeff worked at McDonald’s as a short-order line cook during the breakfast shift when he was a senior in high school.
Bezos took part in the University of Florida’s Student Science Training Program. In 1982, he received the Silver Knight Award, was a National Merit Scholar, and was the valedictorian of his high school.
Bezos told the audience during his commencement speech that he yearned for the time when humans would colonise space. His goal, according to a local newspaper, was “to get all people off the earth and see it turned into a huge national park.”
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in electrical engineering and computer science in 1986 from Princeton University, where he also graduated summa cum laude with a 4.2 GPA.
