The Star Wars animated series Star Wars: Andor introduces a slick and ominous opening sequence for the 2016 prequel film Rogue One. Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, is a doomed rebel who lands on the planet Morlana One, home to the company town of Preox, in search of clues about his missing sister.

It’s late, and it’s pouring rain outside. While walking through the shadowy streets, Andor, who only visible because of the bright neon signs that cut through the night, arrives at a building that strongly implied to a brothel.

Later, after he leaves with no clear answers, two men surprise him. Rain hammers on Luna’s shoulders as the camera focuses on his face as they approach from behind. He murders one person accidentally and another deliberately.

This introduction establishes Andor as a darker, more serious, and more mature Star Wars TV show than its predecessors.

The first three episodes are released together and show him in a very different light: as a lowly salvager with a knack for stealing from the Empire who has now found himself wanted for murder.
