The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors easily managed to eliminate the San Antonio Spurs in their Round 1 series of the 2018 NBA playoffs and is now ready to play with the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round of the postseason.
Both organizations have faced each other in the 2015 postseason, with the Golden State sweeping the New Orleans. Concluding the regular season with a winning record of 58-24, the Warriors fastened the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
The Warriors advanced to the second round easily, winning the series 4-1, despite playing without its superstar Stephen Curry. As for the other side of the court, the Pelicans — who hold the No. 6 seed, thanks to a 48-34 streak — were the first ball club to advance to the conference semifinals, wiping off the Portland Trail Blazers in the opening round.

The Golden State recorded only 9.4 3-pointers per game at a 33.6 percent against the San Antonio, the figure is quite far below the team’s regular season averages.
Kevin Durant put up only 25 percent of his triples on eight attempts per contest after having nearly 42 percent of his 3-point attempts in the regular season. Durant was averaging 28.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists in the five-game series against the Spurs.
Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in all fairness did their part stepping up in Stephen’s absence. Thompson put up 22.3 points per game and shot 52.9 percent from the floor, while Green averaged 11.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and eight assists per contest.
