Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots game (live stream online details here) of 2017 NFL regular season opener kicks off at 8:30 PM EDT at Gillette Stadium with live broadcast on NBC and NFL Game Pass.

On Thursday night, the New England Patriots kicks off their campaign for a sixth Super Bowl championship title in the head coach Bill Belichick and veteran quarterback Tom Brady era when they play host the Kansas City Chiefs. The 2017 NFL regular season kicks off on Thursday night, September 7, with the Kansas City Chiefs heading to Foxborough to square off against the reigning Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.

Since dating back in 2004, the regular season’s very first game has been held on a Thursday night, with the defending Super Bowl champion playing host. With the New England Patriots trailing 28-3 record into the third quarter of 2016’s biggest matchup, it appeared liked the Thursday Night Football’s season opener would be held in Atlanta, but the New England managed to overturn a greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, and the matchup will instead take place Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Patriots will be favorites to win this game against the Kansas City Chiefs, a team with Super Bowl ambitions of their own.

The New England Patriots will be without its star wide receiver Julian Edelman because of a season-ending knee injury. But the franchise added Brandin Cooks and Phillip Dorsett via a blockbuster trade and the New England still have one of the league’s best tight ends in superstar Rob Gronkowski. The Kansas City Chiefs, on the other side of the field, led by veteran quarterback Alex Smith, hope to build off of their 12-4 winning record from the most recent memories and bring back a veteran NFL franchise. The Chiefs leads the series 17-14-3, but has defeated its last six road games to New England against Patriots.

The line opened at New England Patriots -7, meaning the Las Vegas can expect superstar quarterback Tom Brady and the roster to win by a touchdown, but it is since gone up to -9. That is quite pivotal since nearly 10 percent of the games in the National Football League end on seven.

The Over-Under, in the other side of the football, stands at 48.5, up a half-point from where it opened. Given it’s the first true game opener this regular season, it’ll be one of the most-bet-on and most-watched contests of the 2017 NFL season.

The Patriots-Chiefs season opener will be broadcast on NBC at 8:30 P.M. ET, and the only other legal alternative to live stream the game online is through NBC Sports Live Extra, which requires a cable subscription as well as on Amazon.

Last season, the league allowed social networking service Twitter to live stream a total of 10 Thursday Night Football games. For this season, e-commerce giant Amazon scored third-party streaming live rights for 2017 NFL regular-season on Amazon Prime Video after cashing out $50 million for 10 Thursday matchups, plus a Christmas Day contest.

“We’re focused on bringing our customers what they want to watch. Amazon Prime members want the NFL,” Jeff Blackburn, Amazon’s head of business development and entertainment, said back in April. “For us, this is about starting to bring live sports to our Prime members all around the world.”
