UPDATE NO. 1: SNES Classic Mini pre-orders will be available at Target, the chain retailer has confirmed it.

The Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition has become available to pre-orders in the United States of America at long last, with the popular chain discount department store Walmart becoming the first retailer in the American soil to open pre-orders. However, Walmart became the first retailer in the U.S. to start taking pre-orders for the SNES Classic Mini, but they sold out of inventory so quickly.

The Super Nintendo Mini pre-orders kicked off at Walmart on Friday, July 21, nearly a month after the new pint-sized gaming console from Nintendo was first announced to the general public.

SNES Classic Mini pre-orders began in the United Kingdom the same day the gaming console was unveiled, but it’s taken nearly four weeks for the video game enthusiast in the United States to get a chance to pre-order it.

The SNES Classic Mini is priced at $79.99 and loaded with 21 classic 16-Bit games out of the box, including the never before released Star Fox 2.

All of these Super Nintendo video game titles will be playable in glorious full high definition, thanks to the bundled in HDMI cable.

Now that the discount chain retailer have began SNES Classic Mini pre-orders in the United States, it begs the question – with Walmart in America will be next?

Currently, there are two U.S. retailers offering notifications on when Nintendo fans will be able to place pre-order on SNES Classic Mini. These websites are Amazon and Best Buy.

The Best Buy page for the SNES Classic Mini says the game console is “coming soon” while the the e-commerce giant’s page states that they don’t know when it will become available for pre-order.

GameStop — the American video game retailer — currently do not have a landing page for the SNES Classic Mini, and neither does the Official Nintendo US Store as well as Target and Toys R Us.

It had previously been speculated that the main rationale the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition had not been available to pre-order so far was due to the FCC approval.

Nintendo Life have reported that the U.S. pre-orders for the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition are not live yet due to FCC approval.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ensures that all electronic gadgets and alike in the US generates electromagnetic interference within the safe limits.

The software giant Microsoft also recently revealed that the Xbox One X is not available to pre-order yet as it’s awaiting for the FCC approval.

Nintendo have tried to assure its fans that the SNES Classic Mini would not suffer the same stock shortages that its predecessor – the NES Classic Mini – suffered.

In a statement to the USgamer, Nintendo said:

“We aren’t providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition.”

“Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from 29th September until the end of calendar year 2017. At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year.”

The US and UK versions of the SNES Classic Mini feature the same 21 video game titles pre-loaded onto it, but the Japanese Super Famicom Mini has a number of different titles.

These titles are are Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, The Legend of Mystical Ninja, Panel de Pon and Super Soccer.

Japan’s Super Famicom Mini also features Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers, which has more characters than the United Kingdom and United States’ SNES Mini’s Street Fighter 2 Turbo version.

It’s rumored that Nintendo will follow up the SNES Classic Mini with a N64 Classic Mini next year.
