Manila, Philippines — Two of the country’s major telecommunications companies and Internet service providers (ISPs) on Wednesday said they are suspending their mobile phone services in Quiapo, Manila from around 3 P.M to 6 P.M.
Globe Telecom and Smart Communications Inc. said the stoppage of mobile phone services in Quiapo was in compliance with a directive suspension from the Philippine National Police (PNP) through the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
With all that being said, this means that Smart Communications and Globe Telecom subscribers in aforementioned areas may not be able to access call, text and mobile data services services while the suspension of services is in effect.
“We are hoping for your patience and understanding during the temporary shutdown in the said areas,” Globe Telecom said in an advisory.
Meanwhile, Smart Communications said the suspension may also affect services in nearby district of Manila, Quezon City, and Makati.
The partial termination of mobile phone services came in the wake of the twin explosions that strike Quiapo on Saturday evening, which massacred two people and injured at least six others.
Globe Telecom and Smart Communications also suspended its cellular services in Quiapo last weekend.
